I am registered to start Fall of 2012. Signed up for all my classes, expecting my Dars to come any day (registered in Feb!), told it would be the end of July. First, we get hit with a tuition hike letter and next I get a letter from my advisor no DARS until late October!!! Has anyone else gotten their DAR yet?
The reason I ask is because paying 100% OOP makes me think U of Wyo might be a better fit for me. Did anyone else compare the 2 programs?
I hate to quit before I even get to the gate but this is a heck of a way to start a program. Am I the only one running into glitches or is anyone else hitting snags?

I live in N. Co and considered U of WY, I have a friend doing the program, which she loves. I chose Ohio because it's completely 100% online, I can get it done at a faster pace if I want (just taking 1 class every 5 weeks), and I like the 5 week format. In addition, I did not want a clinical component, which U of Wy has, I think 120 hrs. Also U of Wy requires extra classes, like Wyoming History...reallly? Anyway, getting your DARS does take awhile, but I have found the transfer credits to be generous. I applied to the program end of Dec. 2011. Sent in my transcripts middle of Jan. Admitted in Feb. Started my first class in March. DARS came in May. After the review, I only have 4 additional classes to take (Stats, Jr. Comp, Anthropology, and Sociology).

I am starting in fall 2012 also. Concerned about tuition hike but going to stick with it. Taking nse 4510 and am wondering about that long list of books. Does anyone know if we will actually use all of them? Are there some we can do without to save money?

You've got to get the Burkhardt and Nathaniel, and APA book. I'm pretty sure I remember that they had assignments from the Guide to Code of Ethics and Scope and Standards too, so I guess yes, really you do need them all. But deminately the APA book, they use APA for everything in the Nursing program, even disucssion board posts. They are a stickler for APA, it took me twice as long to get the APA formats figured out and written correctly on my papers as writing the papers themselves. I hate APA, but it is here to stay.
Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm all in!

Do you use an APA software?
I purchased 2 from the ANA Bookstore, they have a member discount, and the other 2 from Amazon. I should have them by mid-week.

Does the APA software really help? Starting my first online class next week-4510. How many hours should I expect to spend a week during this program? I have no idea what I am getting myself into. Lol
I'm on the fence about the APA software. I did buy one and did use it, it helped for the formatting overall, but I found that citationmachine.net was great for the references and in text citations. When I took 4510 I spent about 16 hours a week, but I was nervous and hadn't been to school in years so I perhaps over did it.
