Starting Fall 2012

I am registered to start Fall of 2012. Signed up for all my classes, expecting my Dars to come any day (registered in Feb!), told it would be the end of July. First, we get hit with a tuition hike letter and next I get a letter from my advisor no DARS until late October!!! Has anyone else gotten their DAR yet?

The reason I ask is because paying 100% OOP makes me think U of Wyo might be a better fit for me. Did anyone else compare the 2 programs?

I hate to quit before I even get to the gate but this is a heck of a way to start a program. Am I the only one running into glitches or is anyone else hitting snags?

I'm on the fence about the APA software. I did buy one and did use it, it helped for the formatting overall, but I found that citationmachine.net was great for the references and in text citations. When I took 4510 I spent about 16 hours a week, but I was nervous and hadn't been to school in years so I perhaps over did it.

I liked the APA software too but found I used it more for big papers and not small ones. I also used citation machine extensively.

Thank you all for the APA tips. Cincimary, I too have been out of school for a long time. I sure hope this is really doable!

I understand how you feel. Just take it week by week. I was really nervous at first. But so far, I'm doing really good. But expect to spend alot of time reading and writing papers. Use this board for questions, everyone is ready to help, espcially with tips on APA formatting.

Thank you for your comforting words. I'm sure this is just first time jitters. Happy to have found this board!

Is chemistry the course we have to take if we did not take it in associate degree?

I quit the job in order to spend all my time in these courses. Is it worth? I also need take care of kid and family.

Are you doubling up on classes or taking one at a time? I work full time, have three kids, and a husband. I am curious as to how I will manage my time. Guess I will do it...Always have.

I just logged into Blackboard and am stroking out! I can't believe I thought this was a good idea after 15 years out of school! I don't even know about APA. I'm probably gonna die before the five weeks is over!:rotfl:

Ditto! I am already lost! How am I going to learn this APA stuff...today! I was excited to start school but now very unsure of myself. I have been out of school for 15 years as well.

15 years that's nothing, it's 21 for me! If other people can do it so can we. Let's just take it one day at a time.

I feel the exact same way! I'm stunned about the whole APA thing-I'm totally discouraged now.

It is very overwhelming, I know how you feel. I'm now in my third semester at Ohio U. When I started, I hadn't written a term paper since the early 1980s, and I did not know how to use MS Word at all, let alone APA. I was somehow able to learn it all but it took some time. :) There is a software program or perhaps more than one that can help you with APA; I bought one of them but found later I really only used it for lengthy papers.

Hang in there!
