Spring 2017 Chat

Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?

I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.

My schedule is:

A&P II

Microbio

Federal Government

World Religions

The last two are online.

Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.

I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!

Great job!!

Went back this week after a glorious spring break! Got my midterm grades, and imagine my surprise when Government showed a C (I have a 96 average in that class). I emailed her about it and she said, "I hadn't graded all of your assignments yet, so some of them were marked with a 0. Sorry!". I can't wait to wash my hands of that class.

Oh my gosh, I would have panicked!

I've gotten straight A's this semester, but I'm kinda worried about my psychology class... My Professor is pretty flaky; she doesn't read our papers at all and only grades them on the formatting. I wrote a 12-page paper that went along with my presentation; she graded it in the 15 minutes my presentation ran for :/.

Another classmate had noticed that she had been given a midterm grade of a B despite getting straight A's in the class also; when confronted, the professor said "Well it'll average out to an A by the end of the semester!" Whaaaaaaaaat. I feel like she's just making grades up on the fly and putting them into the system; I'll be so sad if she tries to give me a B even though I'm acing her class D: (Even though it's nothing but busywork)

She hasn't actually taught us anything in this class, save for the 40-minute long berating sessions when someone hasn't come prepared for their presentation. Total waste of $700... Oh well D;

Anyhow, rant over! haha

I'm sending you all good vibes! Let's finish the semester strong! :D

That's exactly how my government teacher is. All we do are essays, and they are all so random. She'll knock points off for things, but never gives you any individual feedback. Our midterm instructions were "identify a concept from x handout and write about how it forms your ethical reasoning" - that was it. No format guideline, no length guideline, nada. It was worth 200 points and I had no idea how to begin! Apparently it was okay because I got 100% on it. It's really frustrating.

Next 8 weeks of class feel like they'll be intense.

Micro somewhere in April have a lab exam (Unknown lab) hoping it's after the mini svhool break. Two more Micro exams and then the cumulative exam 2nd week of May.

AP2 exam last week, bonus exam this week, exam next week, off from class, cumulative exam, a class with no exam, exam the following class, and then cumulative exam.

I feel you! I think I only have roughly 6 weeks of class to go (my semester ends on the first week of May), but I still have:

3 psychology exams

4 microbiology exams (2 lab, 2 lecture)

4 A&P2 exams (3 exams, 1 cumulative final)

3 Statistics exams (2 exams, 1 cumulative final)

There's very little time to absorb the material, it's quite a culture shock from what I'm used to back home in England D:

I don't drink really, but I feel like I will have earned a glass (or two) of wine by the end of the semester lol.

You can do it!! :o

The micro Unknowns isn't/aren't bad - had one a couple of weeks ago and I think the last lab practical exam is an extension of that - I wound up getting a Proteus which sucked because then I had a bunch of other tests to run, but it also happened to be the worst one to focus under the microscope. Hopefully I get a really nice and cooperative microoganism for the practical :D

I'm about 85% sure we have S. aures and E. coli. We're doing biochemical testing right now. It's really fun.

Just came back to college from spring break today, and I have completely lost all my motivation :( I'm done on April 18, let's hope it gets here fast!

Got a 94 on my A&P II lecture exam over the cardiovascular system! It felt hard when I was taking it, but I did well.

I'm taking the HESI on Saturday. I need to study for it!
