So are you staying where you are? ~A Poll

Hey all,

I recently passed the 1 year mark in my unit. I'm considering a move to a Level I ER/Trauma Center. How many of you are considering moving to a different area when/now that your year is up?

Currently on a intermediate surgical unit and I do plan on leaving after I have put in 1 year.

My year is up and I am considering a move-not because of problems with my unit, but b/c of an opening in a unit i really want.

I have two jobs: one in long-term care and another at a psychiatric hospital. I think I'll attempt to stay put until I build a mastery of my current areas. In addition, long-term care is fairly easy and doesn't seem to contribute to the issue of burn-out.

Staying where I am ... I feel like it's just getting good. I'm mostly comfortable enough on a daily basis to be fairly independent.

I do have interest in a couple other specialty areas, but for now I'm sticking with the craziness of my Level I ER. There may very well come a time when I no longer want to take on a crack addict and a motorcycle crash victim at the same time, but not yet ...

I'm currently working on a medical floor and my year is up in August. I'm planning on looking for some outpatient surgery nursing positions.

Yeah, I'll be going soon. Public health nursing sounds more up my alley and a better match for my skills and personality than what I'm doing now.

I started out working on a post surgical/ortho floor, stayed there for 9 months and then left. Now I'm working in the ED.

I'm working in the OR and love it, so plan to stay for a long time. It's just over a year there as an RN, although I worked there for 9 years as on LVN.

I'm in the nurse residency program...I definitely think I will try to move out into something else after I get a year in. I honestly think I'm too old to be on my feet all the time I'm at work on the floor...Don't really know where I want to go...but Know I will need a change...don't know how long my feet/legs will hold out.
