yep. i'm doing the unthinkable! lol I'm skipping tonights class! I am exhausted from work yesterday (2 residents sent to hospital and 1 lost alzheimer patient!!), and I have 2 major tests this week. I think my time is better spent at home tonight studying vs 2 hours in the car and 2 hours of class.
Has anyone else ever skipped a class to study? I feel slightly guilty, but I know i'll feel worse if I dont end up with a decent mark on these 2 tests! lol

In my Med/Surg and Psych classes this semester, niether have an attendance policy. You can never show up for lecture, read the book, pass the tests and away you go. Clinical however is mandatory. I do not know if I could miss lecture material. They always seem to shed a little info on test material. But...I bet you will enjoy the night off, just don't fall asleep early on the couch...:chuckle

So far no nursing classes because our school's policy is that if you attend every class during the term they'll give you an extra percentage point at the end... never know when that might come in handy. But I do plan to skip my 50 minute speech class this Friday... Like you I have to drive an hour there and an hour back and I think I'd rather stay home and study for my next nursing exam than listen to someone's presentation. And I'll be losing 3 points for not showing up... but nursing classes are more my focus now.

Did I ever skip classes to study - ABSOLUTELY!
It sounds like you have had a very hectic time and sometimes you just NEED to prioritise you time and efforts. Please don't be hard on yourself- you are studying for 2 tests after all. Even if you weren't studying and felt like you needed the occasional break to do other things (and yes I do mean occasional) then that's ok too.
Let's face it - some classes are soooooooooooo boring that you will actually gain more out of your time studying then worrying about your tests whilst driving to and from and sitting through your classes!
Good luck on the tests - you'll be fine :)

Yes, I'm guilty. If I went to anatomy (was my 8am class last year), I was in the back of class reading for nursing (at 0900). I'd skip if I had a test that morning. I could use the extra study time or the sleep. I always made sure to try and keep up though. If I were behind, no, I wouldn't have done it. Esp, if your teacher is the type who reads from a book...who wants to have someone read to them (ok, some of you might, I don't want them to). If they're the type to use movies or add stuff to lecture, then I wouldn't miss it. -Andrea
-I've also had the professors who made you want to gouge your eyes out...I missed a lot of those classes. Read the book, did study guides, did fine.

You know, all the way through my BSN program I never skipped class. One day I was late to a class, but that was it. I think it really paid off in terms of studying. I felt like being in class and really paying attention helped to cut my studying time outside of class way down. So, no, I wouldn't do it.
Of course, I had more than a few classes where I felt "why am I here?".

Our classes are set up differently than a college setting. If I skipped, I would miss 7 hours of lecture. We miss a lot of material when we skip, so I haven't done it.
well, I didnt miss much! my friend called me and let me know what they covered, and i've already got those notes done.
Please understand that this is not something I plan to repeat frequently! lol I am very against skipping, but yesterday, I had to. Honestly, I dont think I could have driven to school safely because I was so tired!
Anyway, test tonight and tomorrow! I'm feeling prepared and confident!
Hope you all are doing well!

I have only skipped one class ever, it was a morning anatomy class. We were on snow schedule and by the time I figured out what time the class was meeting that day it was far too late to get there on time but I left with the intent of going in late. By the time I got on campus it was 25 minutes until the class ended and I felt stupid being so late so I just turned around and walked down to the library to study. This is the one and only class I have ever skipped.

Do I feel guilty? Yea, a little...but other classes are a bit more important right now.
