shut off at 75, types of ques..

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Like everyone else, after taking NCLEX this afternoon I am convinced I failed. It shut off at 75 and I thought it was so hard. I know that more people pass at 75 than fail, but people do fail at 75. I got a lot of questions that seemed to be priority-like what would require "immediate" follow-up, some ques on prioritizing patients, a lot about evaluating if teaching was effective etc. Is it a good sign to get a lot of questions of these types? The last two questions also didn't seem that difficult to me, either. I'm so nervous that I failed and will jeopardize the job I am supposed to start in July. I'm sitting here ready to cry so if anyone has good feedback let me know!

Try to relax! I think you're overanalyzing. Go for a jog, get in the pool, read a good book... something to get your mind off of nursing for a few days. It does sound like you were getting many of the higher-level questions, which is a good sign. Try not to drive yourself nuts here. And whatever you do, please, don't go searching through your textbooks looking for answers to your NCLEX questions.

Eric, Funny thing, I don't think the answers to some of the questions I got would be in my textbooks. I had tons of very unique priority questions with lots of variables that required "critical thinking" - really not something you could can find "cut and dry" (like a lab value) in a textbook. You were given 4 very different patients and had to know which one to assess/treat first - to me, that's total critical thinking, requiring you to use all your Nursing skills/knowledge. I'm not sure if those type of questions are considered "higher level" or not, but that's mainly what I got. Sue

Ughhh! the waiting HURTS... I also had 75 questions and most if was prioritization, and tons and tons of infection control.. few meds (4) then 3 multiple multiples (Select all that apply). No math whatsoever.... What do you guys think?? Did I pass or not???? I felt relieved when I left PEARSON, then I've been hit by the NCLEXTITIS....S&S Worried look, anxiety, palpitations, constant checking on the BON website even at odd hours... what do you guys think?????? NICU2006, I feel the pain of WAITING>.. it's killing me....

Unlike other States, I have to wait longer days even weeks coz I live in the BEAUTIFUL STATE of CALI4NIA..... :uhoh3:

The wait is awful!! I live in Massachusetts... does anyone know how long it takes MA BON to post a license #?

We're on the same boat! we pretty much have the same questions, shut off at 75 and still waiting for CA BON to release the result. I took the exam last week guess that's 2 more weeks of nerves, agony and anticipation... AARGH! This waiting game is too much to bear. Well, I wish you good luck wasabi and let's all hope for the best. I'll keep you posted. :gandalf:

Hey NICU2006. I'm also live in Massachusetts. I haven't taken the NCLEX yet....taking it in 2 weeks..but I'd also like to know how long the MA BON posts a license number, and what is the website?????

Hey,

I just took it and it shut off at 75 as well. I'm scared as hell. I find out Sunday morning and the waiting sucks!! I had lots of prioritization, infection control and multiples, only one medcalc. I have no idea how I did.

Scared in missouri....

I took the nclex on Thursday 6/29 waiting for the results it is very agonizing. Computer stopped at 75 questions had a lot of priortizing and who would you see first questions. Kind of upset about the drug questions. Still rely heavily on my drug book. It is hard to memorize how much is ok to give to someone.

Actually, you only have to wait 3 business days. Go to the Calfornia BON site and it will list whether you have an RN by your name. I have seen several California RN candidates who have gotten their NCLEX results by looking at the CABON. Then they get their snail mail notification a week or 10 days later. Good luck.

Thanks for the post..I've been diligently waiting.... but it hurts to wait... I just hope they post results on WEEKENDs too. If not, I'll wait next week. I took it yesterday, 06/29/06

Take a look at this thread of one person in California:

Hi everyone! I passed at 75 questions! I took the nclex on Sat. june 24 and my RN # was posted on the CALIF BON SITE on tuesday june 27! I of course looked at the site a few times on monday KNOWING the results were not going to be there, but I just couldn't help myself. Then I looked again tue. morn, knowing yet again the results still wouldn't be there... but, lo and behold.... there they were, my name number and type RN RN RN. I was so shocked! I never call my husband at work,( he works ICU RN at kaiser) but I called his cell over and over again till I got a call back! I used saunders cd, mosby prioritization and delagation book and mosby pdq for critical care, it's quick facts that ARE on the nclex. I wish everyone the best of luck. This is an awsome feeling! I'm looking forward to starting my new grad ICU program. (i think) lol.

Take care, this test is sooooooo doable!

April RN (WOW) first time writting that, so awsome.
