Shut off at 83 questions

Published

I took the NCLEX RN this afternoon, and my test shut off after 83 questions. I had around 20 SATA questions... I felt like I bombed it, as everyone does.

My fellow classmates have all past so far with either 75 or 85 questions. I feel like 83 is just a "weird" number and not a solid number like 75 or 85. Anyone else pass with 83 questions?

I cannot wait for these next 48 hours to pass by!

It's just a number, nothing more, nothing less. I passed in 77 questions and thought it was "weird" that it was 77. EVERYONE feels like they bombed it or could have done better. If you were a good student in nursing school and prepared well for the exam, you have a good chance that you pass. I believe around 82% of new grads pass on the first try.

Good luck! You can get your Quick Results on Thursday. Let us know if you passed

More than likely, if you really feel like you failed, it probably means you passed. Good luck!

I think I passed with 78-80 questions. Somewhere in that range. I remember passing 75, can't quite remember if I got passed 80. You can pass or fail with any number of questions 75-265.

Thank you both. I don't know of too many people who have failed in 85 questions or less, so that is keeping me optimistic. But still.. Is it Thursday yet?!

How were the level of questions? Were they difficult or easy? A friend of mine just passed with 75 and said majority of the questions were tough. Then again it is subjective. Good luck.

Extremely subjective. People have reported passing with 75 questions and assuming they failed because the test was just too easy. Clearly, it was above the passing standard whether they thought it easy or not!

The first few questions of the NCLEX I thought were easy... But throughout the test, I had some questions that were especially difficult for me and had to make a guess.

I was a "B" student in nursing school, and it was a very tough program. So I'd like to think that odds are in my favor. I would also hope that if I failed, I would have failed with 150+ questions. Not so early on.

Yeah, that wait for the results is the longest 48 hours of your life...LOL :D I was so nervous waiting for the results, I barely slept at all. The night before I was supposed to get my results, I was up to the wee hours of the morning because my results were supposed to be ready at 8 AM. I finally fell asleep from sheer exhaustion and ended up sleeping until a bit after 9:30. Needless to say, you'll survive. I cried when I found out I passed and I'm not the kind of person who cries easily. All that stress just rolled off my shoulders. BTW, I slept like a ROCK that night

Sending you positive wishes that you get good results tomorrow morning :)

I'm sure I'll cry too when I find out... Hopefully they are tears of joy :)

4 hours left of waiting... eek

Please keep us updated on whether or not you passed! Feeling like you failed is a normal feeling. I recently took NCLEX in June and passed somewhere between 80-89 questions. I walked out knowing that I had failed, I checked the BON website every hour and 48 hours later I bought the quick results, best $8 ever spent! Keep your head up and do something fun. Good luck!!! ;)

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!! :D
