From what I've read it's recommended not to work while attending the Nursing Program. Now in my world that's not an option for me. I am a single mother of 2 children, 1 grandchild...Although my daughter, 18 years old is now working, which is a big help... I still have bills that must be paid. I don't have money or anyone willing to sign over their paycheck to me.
How many of you work fulltime and attend the school? How many successfully completed the RN Program while working fulltime?

It's doable as long as your job schedule and your school schedule fit together well. I am in a night and weekend track and work full-time. I don't carry a full load of nursing credits though, usually between 7-10 credit hours. It isn't easy and you won't have any time to breathe but it's doable. I personally wouldn't recommend it with small children, but that's a personal decision.
Good luck!

I don't know about nursing school and fulltime, although i'm not going to try it. But, i have worked fulltime for the past three semesters while taking at least five classes per semester. It has been really tough but i figure i will be ready when i get into a nursing program...but i won't be working fulltime. I'm leaving my job this summer to go to nursing school and i'm just gonna get a part-time job and live off and grants/scholarships and/or loans. gotta do what i gotta do. goodluck

There are night-weekend RN programs if you look hard for them. They are specifically set up like that so that people like yourself, can become an RN.
I am always floored why more of these programs are not available.
Thank God for your 18-year-old...I am sure she is a huge help.

First of all, congrats on sticking with it!!!
I started school in 2004 (summer). In September of 2005, my husband and I welcomed our baby girl into the world. She was not planned. I wasn't sure how having Amelia would change things, but it sure did!!! Having children while in school makes a HUGE difference!!
I do work full-time as well, but I am only going ot school part-time. You will be VERY busy, but I think if that is your main focus, you will get it done. It's going to be very hard, but doable.
I just posted a couple of articles on a separate post. Maybe reading these will give you some pointers.
