Hello everyone..so I just took the assessment test on the Saunders cd and I got 50% of 75 questions. (Btw kinda sucks and I feel that i really really need to brush up my content)
Has anyone followed the study calendar? What were your thoughts? I read a lot about how great Saunders for content that's why I bought the book. I haven't really read the book cover to cover on my first attempt and didn't use much the cd but I am going to give it one more try on my 2nd take. Attached is the 6 week study calendar.

I followed the study calendar and passed on my 1st attempt last December 2013. It works. :) Answer 100 random questions each day as well with the cd.

Hi. When you say random questions are you going by systems or does it have an option to give you random questions daily
You're most welcome. I didn't finish it in 6 weeks. I would say more like 8 weeks because I felt like I was a slow reader. Thanksgiving also came up so I took off a few days and Christmas parties I had attended. So when I felt that I wasn't going to finish the book on time, i extended my exam an additional 10 days. I highlighted things on the book and also answered each chapter questions before and after. Then I would score them at the same time if I had done better after reading the chapter. Most of the time I did so I knew I was learning something.
I had a list of medications towards the end that I wrote down notes for. I felt like writing them out would help me remeber them. Writing notes for each chapter is helpful I'm sure since it's part of studying but wasn't my style. So I didn't. I used my highlighter a lot though.
This book is all I used for the NCLEX. My background however is I am IEN from the Philippines. I took the Philippine board as well and passed the 1st time back in December 2012. I did go to a review center there for 2 months so I felt like my retained learning from there helped me pass the NCLEX.
I also have Kaplan MP3s of lecture so I did listen to that whenever I got tired of reading.
Good luck to you. Feel free to pm me if you need further advice.
I mostly chose the "physiological integrity under client needs" questions because I felt I was weakest in that area.

Where on Saunders do you get the calendar? Where do you go? Or they only give you what to study once you take the assessment test to see where you fall?

It's on the saunders cd when you take the assessment mode. After you see your scores you can see a study calendar tab.. I dunno if that's how they work but the assessment is the basis i think. For me i need to review everything since my nursing knowledge is rusty now..
