Can anyone tell me if they've worked there before? I am thinking of moving to either Roseville or Sacramento.

I am still a student (finishing my last prereq) but I've lived in Sacramento most of my life and in Roseville the last 5 years. I love the area. It is very family friendly. I have a friend who is an RN at Kaiser-Roseville and another friend who has worked as an RN at Sutter Roseville for many years. They both tell me they love their hospitals so both seem a good bet.

I have a friend that lives and works in Roseville. She works at Sutter Roseville Medical Center . It's growing, new construction. Just like the city of Roseville, which has lots of new, expensive housing and shopping centers etc.
Sacramento has grown tremendously over the last few years. Sutter has Memorial Hospital downtown, which takes the high risk OB patients and has a big NICU, and also a General Hospital. There are other hospitals, too. I don't live there, but pass through on my visits to my family in Northern CA. It's not a huge city, but traffic can be horrendous during the rush hour. There are many small towns around Sacramento, which have hospitals of varying sizes.
You would be close to Lake Tahoe(about a 2 hour drive) and about 3 hours from San Francisco. Lots of lakes within easy reach. Hot in summer, OK winters. The snow regularly closes I.80 over Donner Pass, and Hwy 50 to South Lake Tahoe, but they soon reopen them.
Hope someone else can be more help.
I have family in Lodi. I'd prefer to see my Cousins often but at arm's length if you know what I mean. I was talking to one of my on line Nurse friends who told me to work per diem in one hospital and part time staff for bennies in the other.
Would you happen to know which pays better on staff and per diem? I am an oddity. I started out at about age 19 1/2 as a LPN, a few years later earned my RN so about 3 yrs as a LPN and 25 yrs. as a RN in Critical Care except for the first 2 years which were med-surg and tele and yes, can still safely float to those areas when asked to.
I know at this time, the right staff and per diem jobs would suit me fine. To live in Roseville and work there without a huge long trip up and back would be ideal. I decided to keep my paid for home in Fort Lauderdale and pay the taxes and upkeep but rent an apt. in Roseville. Could you give me a ballpark figure for apt. rentals that are nice in a gated community? I am hopeful both Sutter and Kaiser in Roseville aren't too fr apart.
I was in Sacramento about a year ago. The city not far from the State Boards was very pretty with nice roads. My sis who worked in Marysville told me that Roseville was the place to be but Marysville and Yube City were the best hospitals she had ever worked at thru a travel contract.

I have worked at both Kaiser Roseville and Sutter Roseville. Kaiser pays better and has more comprehensive benefits. Both hospitals are unionized, but California Nurses Association (CNA) is stronger at Kaiser because they have the power of the RNs from the entire Kaiser system. Not all of the Sutter hospitals are unionized, so CNA at Sutter has less bargaining power. CNA is trying to sync up all the contracts at all the unionized Sutter hospitals for more bargaining power.
Both hospitals have been built within the past 10 years, so they are nice, open, and modern. I've been to the older hospitals downtown and they seem kind of dark and dingy. Both hospitals are too small for the gowning population in that area and are always full and impacted. The ERs close a lot because of this. Both hospitals are also expanding, adding at least 100 beds this year or the next.
The clientèle are the entitled, upper-middle-class of the surrounding area.
Management at Sutter Roseville is pretty dysfunctional. They burn through a lot of managers and directors, and they use Press-Ganey to measure their patient satisfaction. The over the top, pandering, "the customer is always right no matter what the cost" approach really hurts staff morale. They try to pass themselves off as a boutique facility. I'd work in the Trauma ICU there before I'd set foot in the medical ICU. They have some damn good docs though! And they just hired a new Trauma ICU manager who is awesome.
I have a friend who is a nurse manager at Kaiser Roseville. I'd work for her in a second - she is always asking but doesn't have the day shift hours that I have now. The downside is that you'd have to have Kaiser insurance, which can be a scary prospect. Some folks joke that Kaiser is the K-mart of healthcare. The nurse manager in the ICU there was also really awesome. She ran a tight ship (typical ICU RN) but that was one of the most organized units I have ever seen. The ICU patients at Kaiser Roseville aren't as sick as normal ICU patients. The specialty ICU for Kaiser are downtown. I didn't trust the docs as much at Kaiser.
Don't know if this helps.

I am operating room nurse. Any idea how much salary they give for an OR nurse in Sutter or Kaiser Roseville? How much is the rental of a 2 bedroom apartment? How many hospitals are there in Roseville or nearby Sacramento?

I live close to downtown Sacramento and there are 2 hospitals within really easy walking distance - Sutter Memorial and Mercy General. Kaiser, Sutter Cancer Center, UC Davis Med Center, Sutter General and Sutter Cancer Center are all close by as well.
As far as pay for Kaiser nurses, I found this:

Wow!
Methinks you live in a nice part of town! Do you work at either one?

I work at Kaiser in Sac. Most everyone is 8 hours except the ICU which is mostly all 12 hour shifts
