Has anyone else applied for Spring '09 at RIC? I hope the letters are mailed this week. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything yet.

Hi this is my third year at RIC and i was just accepted into the nursing program for spring!!! Im so excited but i have a few questions for the people who've made it through their first semester.

I just mailed my class choices in and selected my teas test date. It says you must go to atitesting.com and register and print your paper/pencil id which i just did. Will i need to bring this to my teas testing day?

With the background check its due Jan 16 2009 is it ok if i drop it off Jan 15 before i take the teas test? Also it says to go to the attorney generals office in prov. is this something they give you right away while your there?

With the health requirements when do i need that all done? is that for my first clinical in the fall? i know you dont need proof of cpr certification untill then which is good cause im not certified.

Also when do you find out what classes you were placed in? will it just show up in my schedule on the ric website?

Lastly im currently enrolled in the spring for physiology and you need to bring proof of this to your first day of classes. Where can i get the student transcript i need?

Sorrry i know its alot of questions!! But everyone here seems very helpful. its alot of information and like a week to get all this figured out. But im so happy!!! thank you to anyone who can help me out here.

Heyyy, I was also accepted for the Spring. I cant wait!!!!

Congrats!!

First of all, CONGRATS everyone!!! What a great accomplishment!!

Kelsey...I will try to answer all of your questions:

-All of the health requirements ie; flu vaccine, tetorifice, and also your CPR cert are not due until you get to 223/224

-You need to bring your paper/pencil ID and your RIC ID to the TEAS exam

-You can certainly drop off your BCI to the office on the day of your TEAS; you can go to the attorney general's office with 5 dollars in cash and leave with a BCI printout the same day

-Your classes will show up on your RIC acct within a few days after mailing in your selections

-Go to RIConnect and print your student transcripts showing that you're registered for Physio for Spring.....you don't need an official copy....just a student copy off the web will do.

Make sure you have ample funds set aside for first semester books (as I said previously...it was $750 last semester!) If you have any questions about teachers, or anything about the first two classes....just let me know!

CONGRATS AGAIN!!

Thanks RhodyGirl for helpin me out here. For teachers i signed up for 220 with Foote for both my first and second choice. Then for 222 Blasdell was my first choice and Wilks was my second choice. Do you know anything about these teachers??? How was your first semester? Thanks again.

I Forgot. How was the TEAS test? what you guys do at the orientation that follows?

Foote is tough, but you will learn a LOT, and if you use the notes/workbooks she gives you, you'll be fine. Keep on top of the reading, and just study hard.

I had Aflague for 220 and he was AWESOME, but unfortunately he's not teaching next semester. I know Wilks is supposed to be a great teacher, and I know nothing about Blasdell. I'm sure you'll be fine though.

The TEAS is just a basic test on english and math; it's concepts you learned in highschool. No biggie. A few weeks into the semster, Dr. Wood will come into one of your classes and talk about your scores. If you score below a certain % they just give you extra help, I think. Orientation is not bad; you'll sit there after the TEAS and get to speak with students and a few of the professors about the program. They will tell you everything you need to do/get, but most of it you won't need til 223/224. I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off ordering books, getting the reading assignments, supplies, uniforms, getting my health reqs done, CPR, etc..... it's crazy.

My first semester went pretty well. I ended up with a B+ (89%) in Foote's class (220) and an A in 222. The biggest change was getting used to the test questions; they're completely different and not just memorization like in the prerequisites!

did you get your books for 220 and 222 the first week of the semester?
