No working visas, Retrogression many last a few more years and the first people getting green cards will be people who filed and have a sponsor dated back to 2005. If you go to school here it will only extend you visa for one year after graduation and then you have to return home.
I wish I had better news, but with millions on unemployed Americans the news does not look good for anyone.
are u sure that it will last for how many years?i have no choice but to stay here.i already have a sponsor right now the problem is the VISA!o god help me
is there another way that i can work?thanks for the reply

I would consulte your attorney, From my understanding if you are on American soil you have a better chance of getting a positive answer rather than being in your home country and using an American Lawyer.

You most definitely have a choice. If you don't change to student visa, you should leave before overstaying the tourist visa.
You may be able to work on the student visa (on campus, up to 20hr/wk). For a student visa you usually need to show proof that you have enough money for living and tuition up front.
Other than that, as a new graduate foreign nurse, there is no option other than to join the rest of the thousands of nurses waiting for visas.

The Retrogression has no sign of ending anytime soon. There are stories now that many tourist visa applicants are getting multiple entry visas. Expect a surge of new nurses all rushing to the USA using the tourist mode to get student visas there in order to get ahead of all those waiting with great frustration in the PI.
Where there's a will, there's a way.

Studying in the US will not make it any easier to get into the US. Retrogression I doubt will resolve soon and better not to overstay your tourist visa. Shame that you think being in the US will give you a chance to jump ahead of the queue there are many nurses waiting in the queue already and have been waiting for a few years. There are no temp work permits and to qualify for H1b you should be a specialist nurse with experience. New grad nurses do not meet that requirement
oh my this is really tough for me.anyways, I already applied for student visa right now and by any chance I'm just hoping this will end soon.I know there are still many nurses who are waiting for their visas and might as well i am in the end of the queue at this moment.I lay down all my options and in case retrogression will not resume anytime soon, the only way i have in mind is fiancee visa. This situation really stresses me out. I thought I am capable for h1b.All I can do is to PRAY!
Thanks for all your replies, I know I'm not alone who is experiencing the same problem, all is affected.
Another thing is, can i get a drivers license and a TIN number while I'm in student visa?cause I heard TIN number can be issued and your license will be release but it cannot be renewed.
Driver License requirments vary state by state, Check with your state's DMV.

I strongly suggest you think of a plan "B". By that I mean, what ELSE can you do besides praying for retrogression to end.
In some areas and specialties, nurses are being laid off b/o low census--that is, American born and educated RNs.
