retrogression vs immigrant visa

Retrogression is dependant on where you was born and has nothing to do with which state you wish to work in. Could take several years to get a visa

If you meet requirements for work visa (specialist) and employer can meet requirements (wants to go that route and can prove they can not employ USC or LPR) then there is nothing stopping employer applying for it. Either way for a visa for the US enabling you to work you need a employer. Also for work visa the employer has to pay all costs

Right now with the retro - maybe twenty years.

I am not an expert on this, of course, so I can only tell you what I have experienced with my pending immigrant visa. In a nutshell, I have been waiting for the visa for 10 years now (yes, ten years!) and I finally had the letter with the application forms to fill out in January of 2009. My mother's immigration lawyer has told us that it'll just be another wait of 3-6 months but it's already April and still no word back from the immigration. I'm crossing my fingers, but in the meantime life here in the Philippines go on and I am planning to get trained in hospitals (if they would take me, lol). It really does take a while. My boyfriend's parents have been waiting for their own immigrant visas for 14 years now.

It all depends on what type of Visa you apply for.

what??? 10 years??? I'm from the Philippines and I wish to apply as an immigrant also.. but that is so scary if it will take 10 years.. On the otherhand I ask a friend of mine here in the Philippines that she is already in her pocket 3??(is that near of getting a visa??) she just applied last 2007... so I'm not getting it..

There are so many details about how one visa application would take longer than another, so I said I was just telling everyone about my own experience. My mother started processing her petition for me 10 years ago, and she was an immigrant then. There were a lot of hitches as with regards to documents and all that, and then she got her green card which meant she had to process AGAIN my application. It was another application since this time her status in the states has changed. I'm sure it's very different for everybody. I don't know how it is for working visas, for example. Probably faster come to think of it, since there are a lot of people that I know that have applied for working visas (mostly doctors and nurses) and are already working there. Anyway, I would just be waiting for mine since I finally, finally got the application forms after a loooooooong loooooong time.

Packet 3 is not near to getting visa. If she has a PD of 2007 then she has a long wait ahead of her. Current visas have run out and prior to running out processing date was 2003. No more visas are being released until the new year starts in Oct 09 and no telling where it will start

You are going the family route which does take much longer than going as a nurse. However with retrogression many have already been waiting over 3 years for a visa and still waiting

That's why to be honest, I'd rather move on and keep planning for things here in the Philippines. If the visa comes, great, but I won't be like some people I know here who also have their pending visas and not doing anything but sit around and wait. I think I'd die of boredom, or stress so much about not being able to provide for my kid. :)

i have an employer from OHIO and im done with the interview last month theysaid they're gonna think what kind of visa they will provide me.. yesterday i talked to them and said they chose immigrant visa since working visa has a high risk of getting denied.

i know immigrant visa will take time, they said it will take like 1 and a half to 2 yrs of processing.. I know that it's not true coz i can hear alot of stories that it really takes a whole lot of time (3 to 5 yrs?)

my question is:

1. it's 2012 already,, is it still gonna take 3 to 5 yrs? before i get the visa?...

2. is it the same process for us nurses to have immigrant visa with the family petition which i believe is also immigrant visa??

is there a difference if i applied in an agency here in the phi;ippines and how if i have a direct employer?? which is better and faster to process?? thanks in advance

Going with an agency will make no difference. The process for family is longer than with an employer. Current processing times for EB3 which is what nurses come under is 2006 and many are still in front of you waiting so doubt it will change much in the next few years
