Share Your NLE Scores
I don't have the exact figures for each part of the test on top of my head right now and too lazy to check, but averaged 84.90%. Congratulations to everyone, in the end, no matter what the score is -- everybody just ends up remembering if you pass or fail anyways!

Need some nursing piece of advice
There's so many Korean companies hiring for part-time and full-time tutors, I had that job before too. Look in newspapers; sometimes they offer online tutorials which would mean you could do the job at home, as long as you have a great internet connection, a pc with a fast processor and all that. Goodluck!

Need some nursing piece of advice
Hi Tomcam, I graduated 2 years ago and I just took the nursing licensure exam for the first time November 2008. The reason for that? I started working and never stopped. At first I was rationalizing it with, "I need to provide for my kid, I'll take the test in December" (at that time the exams were still in December) -- time flew and it was two years later, I had a bachelor degree but not licensed to practice. If you have the choice, meaning, the support of your family financially, then just use this time to prepare for your exam in November, especially finishing up the requirements. That's my advice, I didn't do that when I graduated. I just started working, working, working. Never regretted the time of course, since I learned a lot from working (read: the value of money, even one peso is extremely important to you if you are the person earning that one peso). But still, it side-tracked me from using my degree. Goodluck!

ielts review materials
I'm sure most of us can say this, that it's not just about the knowledge that makes you ace or fail a test, a huge part of it is self-confidence at that particular time you're taking the test too. So, if you think having a book that could guide you through what to expect about the test, etc would reassure you and make you feel confident, I don't think it's a waste, go get one Although, there's so many stuff on the internet that could help you too, and you can get them for free.

ielts review materials
Totally agree about using the language constantly to improve English skills, but also, try to watch a lot of shows in English -- it's great practice and fun, and also, read novels, newspapers, whatever floats your boat. I've written for a Korean company that produces books in Korea for TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS and also taught Koreans and Japanese online that are planning to take the tests; I always, always advice them to constantly practice. I mean, you would always ace whatever comes naturally to you, right? :) Hope this helps, goodluck!

retrogression vs immigrant visa
That's why to be honest, I'd rather move on and keep planning for things here in the Philippines. If the visa comes, great, but I won't be like some people I know here who also have their pending visas and not doing anything but sit around and wait. I think I'd die of boredom, or stress so much about not being able to provide for my kid. :)

retrogression vs immigrant visa
There are so many details about how one visa application would take longer than another, so I said I was just telling everyone about my own experience. My mother started processing her petition for me 10 years ago, and she was an immigrant then. There were a lot of hitches as with regards to documents and all that, and then she got her green card which meant she had to process AGAIN my application. It was another application since this time her status in the states has changed. I'm sure it's very different for everybody. I don't know how it is for working visas, for example. Probably faster come to think of it, since there are a lot of people that I know that have applied for working visas (mostly doctors and nurses) and are already working there. Anyway, I would just be waiting for mine since I finally, finally got the application forms after a loooooooong loooooong time.

retrogression vs immigrant visa
I am not an expert on this, of course, so I can only tell you what I have experienced with my pending immigrant visa. In a nutshell, I have been waiting for the visa for 10 years now (yes, ten years!) and I finally had the letter with the application forms to fill out in January of 2009. My mother's immigration lawyer has told us that it'll just be another wait of 3-6 months but it's already April and still no word back from the immigration. I'm crossing my fingers, but in the meantime life here in the Philippines go on and I am planning to get trained in hospitals (if they would take me, lol). It really does take a while. My boyfriend's parents have been waiting for their own immigrant visas for 14 years now.

Online MAN/MSN courses?
Hi everyone, is it true that UP Manila offers online courses for MA degrees in nursing? I found one link on the internet saying they do, but I have yet to find more solid proof. I did try calling their offices but was just kept being bumped from one department to another. Before I shifted to Nursing I was a Computer Engineering student in UP Diliman and I have asked some people that I still know from there but they have no idea either Just thought I'd ask everybody in the forum if you knew. Online MA classes seems to be a very convenient and great idea. Please let me know if anybody has some info! Thanks in advance!

Hello, and a few questions
Your replies are very much appreciated! :) I really do not mind the trainings at first, I would be happy enough to get into a training program even without the assurity of being hired. The experience for me is a great first step, and will be thankful for that when it comes. Here's hoping!
