A new Congress will be sworn in in January. You should hear real rumblings on the immigration issue by Spring/Summer. Chances are slim anything will be done before then since this Congress is on the way out and considered a "lame duck".

Retrogression won't last forever. It may seem like a big ordeal now, but those that remain patient and get all their ducks in a row will make it to the US.:balloons:

I like that attitude!

it seems everybody is quite busy nowadays. I am reader to this forum for more than a year and constantly monitoring all the threads, I havent log in until now and noticed a lull in the issue of retro, please post some updated info about the issue. many thanks and merry xmas to everyone.

Because there is no real issues anymore to begin with.

Retrogression has come and nurses will just have to WAIT until it is resolved and the US Congress is already adjourned for the year and will only re-convene mid-Jan. 2007

They will tackle the issue early next year and fresh allocations is expected sometime in the Summer of 2007. Period.

It is out of the hands of the nurses. It is not the end of the world as sunnyjohn keeps saying. Nurses can still go through packets 1-3 and by the time retrogression is resolved nurses will already be on packet 3 and just awaiting to be given the packet 4. No loss of time if you think of it and the way I see - the hardest hit are really those who were already given interview dates but fell short because the 50,000 visas were exhausted.

The good news for them is once retro. is lifted they are the 1st ones to be given visas.

So, as we keep saying here - just continue w/ everything and it will take care it itself.

thank you very much lawrence 01, ;), just like all the others waiting for their interview dates, I guess I have to sit tight and wait for fresh allocations. For your info, I have been waiting since august of this year for my interview appointment but unfortunately, i was affected by the retrogression, if i have to wish this christmas, I would definitely wish that the u.s congress would appropriate more visas early this year!! then, everybody would truly have the most beautiful new year to begin. Again, Merry Christmas and a hopeful new year to everyone!!

I am in the same boat as you.

All files in London since end of Aug this year.

I telephoned them yesterday everthing is done and we are just waiting for the visa number before being invited for an interview.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

While news out of Washington DC is slow right now (as is always the case at year's end), HLG is hearing that there is already a movement afoot to push Congress to get a small recapture bill passed within the first 10 weeks or so of 2007. Over the course of the spring Congress will debate a wide-ranging CIR-type bill, which healthcare immigration advocates hope will include a complete Schedule A exemption from the Green Card quota.

A time line might look like this:

Feb-March 2007: small allotment for Schedule A workers, perhaps 10-25,000 visas. Whether dependents are included is undecided at this point, but our hunch is they will be treated as they are now -- i.e. part of the quota.

Summer 2007: wide-ranging CIR is passed which includes an exemption for all Schedule A applicants.

I hope this news will take effect in february or march, cant wait for another year.If this is true well its a very beautiful christmas gift for us.I always crossed my fingers..:D

Sorry, but will not take place in February or March, even if they vote then and it gets approved, it is always 90 days after before anything goes into effect, if not longer. Therefore, next summer as we keep saying.

You are quoting from only one law firm, there are thousands that are involved in immigration.............do not take what one states as law. They are not any more inside than the others that claim to be, and there are alot.

I doubt there will be any visa for nurses in the near future since there are controversial issues about foreign nurses in US. :uhoh21:

Sorry, but I do not agree with you. There still are areas that are very short.

And have been doing this for way too many years.............

dear hard_life.

thanks for very usefull information especially keeping in mind that this post is from november 2004.:trout:!!!

we should't follow that fears and doubts, thank you suzanne!!

If the law is passed, it will be so unfair to other professions. Why a 2-year associate degree nurses can make an express immigration way, while people with PhD degrees from India or China has to wait 3 years for PD to be current? This just doesn't make sense at all to many people.

i disagree with you, dear rhp123 and ready to explain.

first of all, the vast majority of the us nurses are from china and india, it is understandable, you have more than 2 billion population. however, it is not the blame of nurses from other countries that you are too crawded.

secondly, the us economy and healthcare system needs rn, not phd. you as a phd have a great opportunity to immigrate to canada, for example. they will give you an additional bonus if you are ready to immigrate, so canada needs phd, hurry up!!!
