Relocating to Indianapolis area

Welcome in the future to the Hoosier state! IVY Tech has a pretty resonably priced program I think, I'm not sure how much the credit hour is, but it is one of the cheaper ones. You better put your name on the list now though because I hear there is a long waiting list for any nursing school in Indiana. Good luck!

The Indiana University School of Nursing has several locations throughout the state. bloomington, indianapolis, kokomo, etc. There are no waiting lists, but highly competitive. The selections for acceptance are made solely on the basis of GPA. They have separate categories, though. For example, first preference goes to people who have completed all prereqs through IU. Rumor has it that the class that started this past fall in Indy, to graduate in 07, had 500 applicants for 100 positions. And it is more expensive than Ivy Tech. There are a couple of private (i.e. more expensive) schools in Indy that offer nursing, University of Indianapolis, and Marion College. Hope this helps, and I hope you like the Hoosier state.

I'm currently on the waiting list for a community college nursing school in Michigan. My husband will likely be relocated to the Indianapolis area sometime this year and I'd like to get some information from schools before we move. Any suggestions on a nursing school down there that is not terribly expense. (I currently pay anywhere from $60-$90/credit hour.) Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am starting the ASN program at Ivy Tech Indianapolis this August and I am really excited!! I would suggest that you contact the college now so that you can complete the necessary paperwork for admissions and have any transcripts sent here. Application for the program are mailed out to any student who has taken the NET test (actually, it was the NET and now they have changed it to something different, but that was after I had completed it!) You must complete the program application and return it to the head of the nursing department by sometime in December (but they don't come until Nov) Tuition is really cheap, like $80/credit hour. One big problem is the number of applicants! They usually have over 300 (one year almost 500) and only 80 are accepted for each August. If you are already an LPN, they only take 20 transition students. Just make sure that you do EXACTLY what they ask for or your application will be thrown out. Good luck!

Hi. I am applying to Marian college and I spoke with a lady in admissions and she told me for their associates program they don't have a waiting list. She also said if you take some of your pre-reqs their that they give those students first priority there. Just a thought that I would pass on.. Their website is: http://www.marian.edu :)

JenMarie82...if you are on the waiting list, chances are you will begin the program in August. (assuming that you are talking about the Indianapolis campus). When the orientation for this year was held we were told that every year they usually go through all of their alternates due to students dropping out, changing their minds, or they can't afford it. So, enjoy your summer! Send me a PM if you get word that you will attend this year, I hope to see you there.

I know that Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis is about to change their criteria to get into the program. More interviews and possibly past healthcare experience might be added to the criteria to get in.
