rejected from RN to BSN program at Texas Tech University

i am in the texas tech rn to bsn program now. first thing is all your core classes done? it is competitive but i got in with a 3.3 all my core classes done and all paperwork submitted on time. i'm sorry you didn't get accepted i know that must have let you down...keep trying its a good program

well, i applied to texas tech university rn to bsn program even before i moved to texas and today i received am email stating wasn't accept to rn to bsn program in the fall. i am very dissapointed because i thought their rn to bsn program is easier to get into then their bsn program but today they made me realize it is as competitive to get int0 rn to bsn program then their bsn program.

does anybody know what it takes to get into rn to bsn program? do they accept students based on gpa or just date of application???

Try UT Arlington's RN-BSN program. I have applied for the fall and from my research and by word of mouth it seems like a great program.

I am currently in their program and also thought it was relatively easy to get in. But, I think you should call them and ask them why you did not get accepted. It could be a clerical error when the application was input or it could be something like a class that you may have taken may not actually transfer and count as one of their core requirements. You could keep applying, but if there is a class that needs to be retaken or something else with your application, you will not know if you don't ask. Good luck!! I didnt even know I posted this thread until I came to this site today to read few posts. I think one of the reasons I wasnt admitted is because I'm still not done with pre-requisite classes. I'm taking my last pre-req classes in which I should be done in the beginning of August and thats why I applied because the program doesnt start until end of August. My Gpa isnt that good either so I'm doing my best to get a good grade on my classes i"m taking now. On my rejection email from the program coordinator stated that I didnt get in but they can put me on the waiting list but I have a feeling she sent the same letter to everybody. So Smilingbig and Txspades, how is the program so far? Is it difficult? I'm taking online classes and it is a lot of work.

Hey myrose, do youu know if UT Arlington program is completely online class or do students have to come to the campus? I read about their program from their website but i'm kinda confused because it says we can either come to campus or watch the video or they will send the CD??? I'll probably talk to an advisor and maybe I can applied to more than one school for the next program.

I don't think that the program is difficult. However, this is my second bachelors degree and I find research, writing, and utilizing APA format retlatively easy. (Those things were fundmental to my first degree and my initial career choice.) From my group members and other classmates that I have talked to, that seems to be their biggest hurdle... along with time management. It seems that most of the participants work and have families so that is extremely important. I must say, though, I have never encountered so many instructors that are as available, flexible, and understanding to the many things that can come up in life. I would say that there is an acceptable amount of work for the degree we are earning. But, it is ALL online-which I LOVE!! I work with some girls that are doing the UTA program and don't care for it because it does require classroom time. However, I am not sure if that is just the program that they chose because it is also tied into our facility. UTA has partnerships through many local facilities that utilize the facility staff to deliver their courses. If you have any more questions about TTUHSC's program I would be glad to answer them... good luck with your final pre-reqs!

I'm trying to get my pre-requisites completed by October when the deadline for all applications are due. I'm forced to take courses online as I travel between Mexico and the US for business reasons. I'd love to ask you questions, if you don't mind? Did you do any of your pre-requisites online, on campus, or hybrid of both? Did TTUHSC baulk at accepting any of those courses? Did you find they prepared you sufficiently for the 2nd Degree BSN program? What do you find is your biggest challenge in the 2nd Degree coursework? Thank you for allowing me to ask questions! However, I think the school to which you are applying is different than what we were referring to in this thread. While the RN to BSN program was a second undergraduate degree for me since I already had a BA in a different area, it is not their "2nd degree BSN." I had already earned my ADN-RN prior to starting the RN to BSN program. So, I can't really comment on the challenges of their "2nd degree BSN" coursework.

My pre-requisites were a combination of on-line and in-class courses. Since all of the institutions I attended were in Texas I was able to verify that they were transferrable through the Texas Common Course Matrix. Luckily I didn't have to retake any courses.
