Nov 18, 201015 yr My experience with them has not been too sucessful! lol I had a couple of patients when I worked medical that had such continuious liquid stool that there was no way to keep them clean, even for 5 min and there skin was a mess so we requested an order for one. Well lets just say it didn't work as I had hoped! lol The patient was an elderly woman and well lets just say that the size of the tube was standard and yet next to her it looked ummmm, how do I say.....like a pediatric tube! lol guess things get stretched out down there after 85 years of pooping! lol so only about a quarter of it was going into the tube and the rest around the outside! Now both times it was just connected to a foley/gravity. Never heard of connecting it to suction. Sounds interesting and kinda painful! ouch!
Nov 19, 201015 yr I have NEVER EVER heard of that. Suck that mucosa right outa there! However, I have been known to use suction to help with the clean up of a particularly large mass of liquid poo.
