Are you an RN or an LVN?
Due to the economic situation, wage deflation is a reality for many nurses in certain parts of CA. I have noticed that some pay rates have actually dropped over the past five or six years. Anyway, $22 per hour is an appropriate LVN pay rate, but it is a lowball wage for an RN. However, if you are a new grad RN, they can offer you $22 hourly because there's a line of 1,000+ unemployed new grads who will accept the job if you do not want it at they pay that they are offering. This is the harsh reality of what has turned into an employer's market.
Hi nurse! I am a new grad. I was just offered an Charge Nurse position at a convalescent hospital for weekends only and to do 16 hrs per day for two different facilities (work 8hrs at one then travel to the next for the next 8hrs.) They offered $22/hr, is that reasonable? I don't even know if they will pay times half for the over time (I will ask.) let's say they don't pay over time, should I ask for $24./hr!?
