Ok...I'm tired! Tired of the slackers that make everything take longer and more add to the stress...tired of the rolling eyes when other students are giving presentations...tired of the same speech from instructor OVER & OVER about the slackers even though she won't do anything about it....tired of studying 4 or 5 hours a day outside of class to get A's & B's on everything only to be ignored by the instructor and take the same quiz over & over again while the slackers try to get a "passing" grade....tired of not working so that I have time to study yet spending out money every month for tuition, fees, books, etc. so that I can do well in a program that just seems to be "floating" by without anyone having a care in the world...tired of spending WEEKS on a VERY SIMPLE chapter of material instead of learning/covering the material and taking the test and moving on...tired of knowing we are about 5 chapters behind the syllibus in EVERY subject.
I guess it is safe to say I am just PLAIN TIRED!!!! And I'm about ready to just throw in the towel......and go back to clerical work which is what I have done for the last 15 years. I really thought I wanted to be a nurse.......now.....not so sure!
Thanks for letting me vent...let me know if you have an advice that will pick me up out of the slum I am in!

I am starting school on 3/16 and i think all that is well worth it. My mom started nursing school three time and had to leave for one reason or another and she finally graudated as a RN and that was the proudest day of our family lives. Dont throw away something as great as an education!!!! How long do you have to go? Hang in there!!!! I have done clerical work since I was 18 ten years later tired of people treating me like crap and you know what you will have job security!!!! Trust me dont give in

definately not a reason to throw the towel .. it sucks that there are one too many slackers... but by any meanings that should make you quit....
think about it slackers are every where, nurses are working bees team workers.. maybe you should approach them??? maybe get real??? or even tutor them?
you can make the difference

There will be slackers everywhere you go. There is a thread call "things you want to say to your fellow students", go there and vent away. But do not, I repeat DO NOT quit because of your frustrations with other people.

Go black to clerical work?? Surely you jest - especially in this economy. The way to play this game is to get through it and get your license. Have blinders on with regard to your classmates if you don't like what they do or who they are. In the end if/since you're a good student you'll have your license and a new career - if that's what you want. That's what matters.

I think they are expressing their disapproval of the staphs catering to those that do slack while she is making an honest effort. In any sense, it does suck a lot. Every school goes through it and everyone has those students. The wheels of fate will weed them out over time. Just dont let it get to you too much.

Sorry, but where in the world do you go to school? Is it an RN program, LPN? At my school, slackers fail. We go over the chapters, and if teachers don't finish lecturing, we have to read it out of the book and figure it out for the test. Is this your first semester? Hopefully, it's just basic courses and the instructors are trying to be nice. As you get more involved in your program, it should get better because slackers cannot keep up. BUT, your teachers should not be catering to these people. It's hard to believe that they are. There's so many people that would love to be in their shoes, and work hard to get their nursing license. Good luck, and just stay focused on what you need to do. School will be over before you know it.

Don't throw in the towel.... I am tired too, I am almost half way done and have only two semesters left, yet everyday I have to ask myself why I am going to school. The answer, because when I am done my education will be the only thing that I will have that nobody can ever take away from me. Pat yourself on the back..you say you are learning the material and retaining it? Good job, as for the slackers....if they are just memorizing facts and not learning how to apply what they are learning they don't stand a chance taking the NCLEX and they don't stand a chance when and if they get out in the real world. You will be prepared for the challenges that you will face as an RN, and you will be able to make the critical decisions that will benefit your patients health.
As for those slackers...do what I do go home and laugh at them. I had a girl the other day ask what is cellulitis? Is that the same as cellulite? ( I used to wonder how they ever got in) Now I just go home and laugh. Oh I have another one who asked well how would you explain magliant? Or what is Lingular area? Is that in the mouth (its the upper lobe of the left lung). LOL Hang in there!
Oh and in my school anything lower than an 80 is failing...the slackers get weeded out first semester.....I really hope you aren't far into your program and seeing that slackers are still excelling.

That's what I was wondering. In my school, we have lost over 50% of the original class, and I'm the ONLY one out of my 1st semester clinical group still standing (out of 10 to start). And I don't even know what you mean by "quiz." In my lecture class, there are 5 tests. Period. And you have to pass with a 76 (78 last semester). If you blow the first test, you're struggling for the rest of the semester to pass, which I did by .1 point! And that was the first C I've made in years.
Maybe you're just very bright, or maybe you have an easier program, but I think you'll find that you get challenged plenty as you advance.
Congrats on doing well, tho.
