It was through nursesrx. If they have a verbal contract they cant back out right? I am just waiting for the written contract

They shouldn't but it is possible even with a signed contract. You could as well if you don't like the contract language or something promised is missing.

I've traveled with NursesRX for two assignments. They are very fair and prompt with problems. I haven't had any of the issues I've heard can be a problem with AMN (who owns NursesRX).

I've also traveled with Nursesrx and I've had very few issues. A couple of minor instances of reimbursements not paid in a timely manner but as soon as I contacted payroll all was taken care of quickly. My preferred recruiter is with them and all of her quotes have been comparable if not better than my other agencies. She also communicates primarily in writing via email or text which is big for me. I like my conditions in writing before I see a contract so their is no hanky panky going on. I'd say take it and see how it goes. That's what's wonderful about travel nursing. It's only 13 weeks of your life.

I am currently working with recruiters now to get my first travel assignment. I'm glad I stumbled across this post bc one of them is nurses Rx. The nurses Rx recruiter has been the most available but I was worried since I hadn't heard about them and she contacted me from my inquiry with American mobile. I am also looking with PRCS and PPR. I was wondering about OT, its sounded like OT is paid differently based on the hospital and not the agency, is this correct?

Most agencies have a uniform overtime policy. But some hospital contracts pay better for overtime, and some agencies will pay more. It is a rare agency or recruiter indeed that will share bill rate information with you so we are often in the dark about what we can really negotiate for. Personally I think it is important to not take a pay cut when you work extra hours. So you should add up all your compensation and come up with a total hourly rate - PanTravelers has a calculator that will assist you. Generally that rate will be between $40 and $50 dollars an hour for most contracts. So you certainly don't want to take less than that for overtime and ideally a good bit more. However, it is not worth a lot of work negotiating overtime rates if there is none available, or you don't want to work overtime. If that is the case, you would want to focus on some other part of your compensation if you want to negotiate a better package.

However I got a job at Stanford as my first travel job. I didnt think I would get a hospital such as this and I heard they hire travel to perm. So my goal is to bust my butt for this job and prove to them I am good nurse that wants to stay. I am honestly shocked about it. I know this is ranked #10 for cancer and this job is everything I could have possibly wanted.

I have a friend who worked a telemetry unit contract there and she loved it. She never had more than four patients due to the state nurse patient ratios. She said there are nurses who are out of staffing whose job it is is to make sure that you take your mandated breaks and meal breaks. She said that was an adjustment because she was used to having no breaks at all. Even when it was busy, the relief nurse would be insistent that she take her break and she could not say no.

I did an assignment at Stanford (my first California hospital) in 1997 and was floored by a number of things in the OR. One of them was the breaks. Like many hospitals I California, they were hit with a class action suit to collect back pay. As is usual in such hospitals, they are super diligent afterwards about breaks. California law requires a break for every four hours worked and a meal break within 5 hours of shift start with complete relief of duties. An extra hour must be paid for every missed/late break. I'm picking up a couple extra hours every week at my current assignment that way. Pretty cool for us out of state travelers! It can raise our average pay and it actually saves the hospital money for break staff.
