racist comment

Has anyone ever had comments regarding your nationality made by patients?

thanks, bandit.

and of course i agree with everything you said.

it's unfortunate that many do not ascribe to the same ideals.

therefore, it very much remains an issue, much to my dismay.

Then leslie, what we all have to do is work around it, until it no longer matters!

I can think of a couple of black doctors that I know - I would bet in their earlier years they had to put up with a lot of racist attitudes - more so than today.

But today they are important men, they can have their pick of patients.

They learned that, while life isn't perfect, and conditions aren't always going to be ideal, in the end, they succeeded, and made their lives as they wanted.:)

I too am offended by chivalry. And I hate the word panties. Eeech. High five.

Wow! I guess it's kinda neat how different we all are. I say that because I get offended if I am treated WITHOUT chivalry (when it is appropriate). I love to be treated like a lady (but a lady who's down to earth).

I'm curious...what chivalrous act do you hate the most and why?

dark complexion, monolingual, a guy once said he thought i was lying to him when i said i didn't speak spanish

'WHY WOULD I LIE TO YOU'

he just shrugged his shoulders

you have to expect some people to be stupid

I'm astounded that someone would be offended by a man holding a door open for her.

Me, I'm just glad when someone doesn't let it slam in my face.

And I wear panties because my husband wears jockey shorts (and thank God for that) :) .

Sorry - not trying to start an argument here, but I'm just sitting here in awe and wonder...

And then Obama has to come in and create a little fire with his comment about the 'typical white person'. WTH?!! Let's just keep this racial BS swirling so that we forget to pay any attention to any of the real issues!

Perhaps one could start a debate about the typical idiot running for president? Just a suggestion.

Consider the source and whether or not you really value that person's opinion before you allow yourself to be hurt by something they say.

Who was it (aside from being someone who was obviously quite insightful) who said something like, "no one can make you feel inferior without your own consent"?

We can't control what people SAY, and we can't always change the way they THINK, but we can certainly control how we choose to FEEL about it.

I'm white and have been called some unflattering things by people of color to my face, and I usually just assume they are uneducated and lacking in basic deportment skills. You'd HAVE to be that way to say some of the stupid things I've heard. Usually, I laugh it off and find I really just pity them. How sad to live with such big blinders and be raised in a vacuum bottle!

Right now I'm waiting to get blasted for saying "people of color"...having lived all over the country and around the world, I can't possibly list every race I've ever encountered, so have a heart and give me a bit of a break.

perhaps "people of color" could better be called "people of different ethnicities"? i certainly would hope you would not get blasted for your words. colors are just colors, red and yellow, black and white, all are precious in his sight. i believe that's how it goes.
