have questions about BOLC 3

Published

I am scheduled to go to BOLC 3 in July. I was told BOLC 1&2 are no longer requuired.

My question is are we allowed to leave or go off site during these training dates? My wife is coming with to San Antonio while I train at Fort Sam. She is getting a short term hotel stay during the training time. Am I allowed to sleep at the hotel with my wife and go to class in the mornings?

Geez I don't see why you can't spend some time with your wife.

But prepare her for your long hours away from the hotel. Not sure if you'll have formation but rest assured you'll probably have some type of early am PT so that means, depending how far the hotel is located from Fort Sam, you'll need to think about your travel time.

Also think about when you'll be in the field (Camp Bullis) for about, how long? 10 days? I am sure that someone will have better information than me!

Have fun!

Thanks, plus we are bringing our babies. two rat terriers.. we never travel with out them. haha

again thanks

I'd check with someone who's just gone through OBLC. At AF COT we couldn't leave the dorms overnight and had varying levels of privileges over the five weeks. We couldn't even leave the base until late in week four. Not saying this is the case for the Army but I would definitely check.

I don't see how they could let you stay off base. Getting to see your wife sometimes if she was there, maybe...but staying off base. Doesn't sound realistic to me.

Have you checked with your recruiter? From what I've heard all weekends are free so if nothing else you should be able to spend the weekends at the hotel, except for TNCC that course goes through the weekend.

I was thinking about doing the same thing whenever it is that I go -- depending on our mobility with regards to selling our house, of course. We have two pugs that would travel with my husband, but thought about having him in an extended stay place nearby. Interested in hearing how it works out for you! :)
