Question: Working in hh....

Do you get benefits such as medical, vision, dental, 401k, pension, ss, etc.???

Yes. How good the coverage is depends on the agency. There are two agencies that I applied with recently. Visiting Nurses, as large as it is, had the more attractive benefits package: full medical, dental, and vision, with a 403-B, 30 days PTO per year. The company I am going with has a 401K, medical only, working on getting preventative dentistry, no vision.

Yes to all of the above. If you are a single person, health insurance costs about $24/month! I have a family plan and am paying about 1/2 as much as I did at my last job...good thing because I took a huge pay cut to come to home health. We have 403B...non profit's version of 401K and plenty of paid time off.

The home health agency that I work for does offer medical, vision, dental, 401k, pension, ss, etc. I think the pay could be much higher even with the above items, but don't we all wish the same thing at one time or another.

You have to make certain that you work the required number of hours per week in order to qualify for the benefits for any agency. One of the agencies I worked for, had a plan that if, for some reason, you fell below the required hours for any week, you could pay out of pocket for the amount of time you didn't qualify, until you got back up to the amount of hours needed.

The insurance package at the last company I worked for was a joke. It was "free" for me, then I was charged $160 monthly for my children. It paid less than 20% of doctor's visits and procedures and would only cover major medical over $7000.

I don't know why they even bothered.

Yes. I work for a hospital based agency and it's union so we get all the same bennies.

I got to choose from about 7 different medical plans. I took Empire BCBS. I pay $15 co pay for Dr. visits. That's it. No deductible.

I have pretty good dental too.

Medco for prescriptions, I pay $3 each one.
