Visit quotas and safe care
Jen-I think that is way too much esp for a new hire. We try to slowly phase our staff into their new role. We try to spread it out over 90 days, by week 5, the new person may still be seeing 3-4 pts but they get bored and try to see more but we don't want them to get too overwhelmed.

Home Health not what I thought it would be adice, anyone???
If you work for a caring home health agency and have staff, office and field staff that care about one another, home health can be really rewarding. Being on call is horrible most of the time because of the unknown. But we get through it. It is not for everyone. If you are unhappy move on and find the area that you can do your best in. Don't feel bad, it was just not your cup of tea at this time. Maybe later in your nursing career, you might decide to try it again.

Anyone could help me wid nursing schools?
I think the OP is just doing what the people in that generation do, write how they send text messages. If they stay in school a little longer and get reminded that they can not write formal papers like that, they will stop. Again, it may not mean that they are uneducated but it is just how they talk when they are with friends.I hope they did not run off, this site could really be helpful and useful.

??Is there a shortage: Nursing Supply and Demand
Train those people that want to be nurses and pay the nurses and instructors that you have a decent rate and that will truly help the shortage

Revisiting the question of shift times:
"I will not ever work between 2 am and 10 am" Never say what you will not do, it might come back to bite you.

Arg!!
For me, it is not just my mom, it is my husband too. Why do they ask and then don't listen.? Who knows

Home Health Advice
Not in your area but all home health agencies are not bad. Shop around and find the one that fits your needs. Buy a good small used car to do your visits in and good luck.

Home Health not what I thought it would be advice, anyone???
Home health is not for everyone but if you are organized and est a relationship with your regular patients, it can really be worth it. a vacation may be a good idea. we normally tell new hires to try home health for about 6 months to a year before they become comfortable. Home health is hard work but it can really be rewarding.

hang in there, it really does get better :):)

Feeling used
This really does not seem to be safe for you or your patients! Run now before it is too late.
-
Delegation
I understand how you feel. I think we will get better with delegating once we get more experience. If I do what needs to be done myself then I know that it got done and that it was done right. But this can be so tiring.

Custodial or Skilled?
If the pt has a decline in their status and they have rehab potential, PT can go back as long as the MD orders it.
