Question. Does your job have to let you stay per diem if you asked for a per diem position when full time resignation is turned in?

I would ask them

In many places, you have to apply for a per diem job, go through HR and get officially hired as per diem. It takes more than asking for per diem status unless your workplace is very small.

Specializes in psych, addictions, hospice, education.

There would have to be a per diem job available. There might not be one available. Then you'd have to go through whatever procedure your employer wants, to get it, if there is a job.

Don't count on it.

To answer your question: No, no employer HAS to let you have ANY job.

Many will let you stay PRN or per diem IF you were a good employee AND they need the help. They do not HAVE to do it.

Your employer is not obligated to allow you to switch to per diem/PRN status after you've submitted a resignation notice.
