Question for nurses who passed NCLEX using Saunders!

Hi! I Take my NCLEX Dec 29th, and I'm using Saunders to study. I am consistently getting 70% of the questions right on the quiz and assessment CD practice questions and I am wondering how I figure out what that means in terms of passing. What percentage were other people getting right in Saunders before passing (or failing) the NCLEX? I'm trying to get an idea of how close or far away I am from an acceptable passing level because I have NO clue what 70% of Saunders questions means in terms of passing NCLEX... Thank you! I really appreciate any help or insight you might be able to give me!

I just asked the same question a few days ago, if you look you can probably find it. One person said not to get hung up on the numbers and another said they passed with scores in the 60's. I'm with you on scores and I'm taking it TOMORROW so I hope that's good enough. Good luck!

To add to this for anyone else who is in the same situation, my friend who used Kaplan said she was getting a range of 50-70% of questions right, and she passed with 75 questions. On the other hand, my friend who was using Saunders said she was getting about 80-85% of practice questions right and she also passed with 75 questions. It seems like the person in the other thread who passed with about 60% was using Kaplan questions, so I doubt the same holds true with Saunders questions, which seem like they might be easier..... so if anyone has any further insight i would appreciate it! Still not sure if 70% right of Saunders questions is around passing rate or not.....

JenniferSews, if you find out you pass, if you get a chance and could post out if you did, i would really appreciate it! since you said you're doing about the same, it would really help me figure out where I am in the realm of being ready. Thanks!

scores from practice tests does not matter at all..as long as you understand the rationale of each.read the rationale whether you answered correctly or not.. i got only 50-60% in saunders cd but i manage to passed with 75 items.. i used suzanne's plan.. it's a cool way to prepare for nclex-rn.. just relax and study on your normal phase.. take your time and don't be in a hurry.. good luck to all...

I used Saunders only. I tried to go thru the chapters and get 80% or more correct. After that I did the CD questions. Sometimes I got 10/10, other times 4/10. I read all the rationales though so I'd understand when I got something incorrect. I passed with approximately 120 questions.

hey i am with you on your information king_james. i kept getting scores between 50-60%. i even got a score of 75%. i just made sure to read the rational on all practice questions i took, right or wrong. the more questions you take the better you will do at answering the nclex questions. i would say also relax, answer questions at your own pace, understand the question and take your time. good luck all!! :wink2:

Well I didn't find the Saunders all that helpful except that I had done so many practice questions I even started guessing right more often. I took it today, my last practice test was a 80 something. According to the trick I passed, in 75 questions.

Sorry for the mispelled word, "phase"..my mistake..hehe.. I'm thankful to this site that it's been my constant companion when i need information from nclex world..Not only that people here inspires you with wonderful stories, it also humbles us and realize our own strengths and weaknesses. :yeah:

i am so sick of hearing people say they used suzanne's plan to prepare for the nclex. everytime i ask how to get this plan no one wants to share. why ?

Suzanne's plan is no longer available on this site and for the people who did her plan it is copyright and she does request that information is not shared

The instructor in the review course I took said you should be getting 70-75% with Saunders. I used the CD in test mode and usually did 75 questions at a time and passed the NCLEX in 75 questions. Don't do any questions a day or two before, make sure you get a good nights sleep and no alcohol for two days before the test. Stop every 15 questions or so and close your eyes and relax for a few seconds, prevents your brain from getting fried. Go with a positive attitude. Good luck!
