Question about EC Content Modules

Hi all,

:candycane:Quick question: what do the content module contain? I don't have to do #2, but still, whats in those things? Also, do you have to wait the 8wks to take the test, or can you take it sooner? I tried to find this out on the website, but couldn't.

Thanks all!:p

Waitr what 8 weeks?

The study modules tell you what to read and on what to focus. I used them to put sticky notes on the chapters I needed.

Thanks Sue.

I meant, if the term is 8wks, say Feb 5-April 5 for example, and you are ready to test prior to that last day, can you?

I think I've gone over the EC Website so many times I've got my wires crossed!

Excelsior College has no terms as far as the nursing concepts tests go. You take them when you schedule them. Their terms are only pertaining to the actual classes that they offer. If you aren't taking any of their online classes you don't have to worry about terms. The EC content guides provide general outlines of the material to be studied for each test. In the past, these content guides did not list the pages for the readings. Now they refer to the reference books and give you pages and chapters to read, much better to help you find what you need.

You can take 5 tests the day after you schedule them if you want, and if you're insane.

Yeah, I'm pretty nuts. How else could I work in an ER?:D

The first time I was enrolled in EC I took two tests per day and did much better than this time around when I can't seem to get one done in one day. They don't recommend that you take more than one in a day, though. I suppose if someone is really studied up they can handle it. You have to be motivated no matter how fast you try to go through the program.

:ornament:Thanks again, all! One of the women I was attending traditional nursing school with has all the EC modules and is willing to sell them to me, so thats a big help. I can get them all at one time and not have to wait. After I graduate, hello half.com/ebay.:snowman:

Wait, are these "modules" done by a third-party publisher, like The College Network (TCN)? Because EC doesn't really provide "modules" -- they have free exam content guides, and they recommend certain textbooks for reading. Just wondering ... I wouldn't rely solely on something like TCN because they don't quite cover everything in the EC exam content guide. Just my opinion/experience.

Thanks for the information. I have so many nursing books, that if I don't have to buy another one, I'll be really happy. I am buried in books. My room looks like a Barnes & Noble.

This is why I love this board. LunahRN, you just saved me a bundle!:yeah:

Now if I can just find a really easy sugar cookie recipe, I'll really be happy!:chuckle

If you are looking for study material for the EC nursing exams, two sources are the various EC groups found on yahoo. Look in their files sections after you have joined the group. You can always disenroll from the group if you find it doesn't meet your needs. There are a couple that have been taken over by spammers. You should still be able to find info in the files though. One of the best sources I have found is on http://www.flashcardexchange.com. Go to the tab for nursing, and under nursing, use the tab for nc. All you have to do is to correlate the nc1,2,3 etc. terms with the current names for these exams. You can also look under other tab names. Anyway, some of these groups of flashcards are great. And all of this is free.
