I was contacted for their ED that someone will call me this week to discuss an offer. When you guys got that email- did y’all give a specific time? I just replied saying I was available anytime but still have not gotten a phone call yet. Kinda stressing and wondering what is taking so long 

Yes St Jude is for the Fullerton location! I also gave an open availability to the recruiter and s to still havent heard back yet, they’re slowly but surely getting around to it??

@Murphy I’m in the same boat but was told we might’ve them both till all necessary observations are meant. Not so sure. I’m at the Torrance ED! What unit you at?

@MannyO Gotcha thank you for getting back to me! I will be on the Observation unit. The ED should be exciting! 

Any news on mission hills from anybody? My portal still says under consideration. 

@Nurse862020 I’ve still yet to hear back from this location and my portal says the same as well.

Just accepted my offer from St. Joe's-Burbank and wondering this as well. I've heard conflicting info from different sources. 

I got the call from the recruiter for my offer at mission hospital. can confirm it’s $36.24 base pay (I’m working night shift and he said it’s about a $5.25) differential and non-negotiable (I tried). honestly discouraged about this because we’re definitely being undervalued with that pay….

and he said that it’s straight pay for all 12 hours. can anyone explain this more - I thought california has labor laws where if you work over 8 hours you get time and a half?

@tmht Yeah, the pay is not negotiable. Remember you’ll get a lot of experience and can always relocate to a different location for better pay. Burbank pays the highest which is $47 then Torrance which is $42 excluding the differentials. I hope that helps.

I don’t understand how providence pays “straight pay” for 12 hours. per CA department of industrial regulations:

“Eight hours of labor constitutes a day's work, and employment beyond eight hours in any workday or more than six days in any workweek requires the employee to be compensated for the overtime at not less than:

One and one-half times the employee's regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of eight hours up to and including 12 hours in any workday, and for the first eight hours worked on the seventh consecutive day of work in a workweek; and…”

wouldn’t it be unlawful for them not to pay overtime after the 8th hour of your shift? or if providence is an exception, why would that be?

straight pay is pretty much the norm in hospitals - it’s because of it being considered an “alternative work week” since our week consists of 3 x 12 hr days which constitutes 36 hrs vs the normal 40. ?

Can confirm for Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. This was the amount I was also offered and was also told it was non-negotiable.

dang, I didn’t know that. I was always under assumption we get time and a half after 8. thanks for letting me know!
