  1. CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017

It probably means your application has been started and they need to review your transcripts to complete your evaluation. Our group only has 28 people in it so far, so they are still potentially admitting people for this cohort.
  2. CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017

Did anyone get any information as to when orientation will be? They just said it would be "forthcoming".
  3. Do C's get degrees?

It depends on if your school permits you to have Cs or if they will kick you out after getting a couple of them. Honestly, you should just do the best you can if you want to keep your doors open for a Master's or doctorate degree in the future.
  4. CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017

Hi guys, I potentially have rooms for rent in a 4 bedroom house in Lake Elsinore which is about 30 mins away from the Temecula campus. If interested PM me and we can discuss further! :)
  5. Rio Hondo Fall 2017

Hello everyone, I just handed in my application for Fall 2017 and am wondering how many of you are out there. The person at the front desk told me that they will be picking candidates on April 10th and there will be a mandatory meeting on April 14th...
  6. They want me to be an RN

I'm not sure if you can actually just leave your previous credits out like it never happened. If a school EVER find out it will be bad. There's also ethical issues if you do this. Anyway, it looks like you can't be a traditional student, so if going...
  7. Advice for Biology Graduate

If you truly want to pursue nursing, you might need to retake some classes including your science prereqs if they are not As or Bs minimum. If you have some savings from your current job and can support yourself while taking prereqs, it can work. My ...

  9. BA to ADN/BSN/Direct Entry or Medical School or MPH?

Are you in Canada? I know there's a lot more than three PA programs in the US!
  10. CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017

Same here, I've talked things over with at least 20 people this past week, majority of whom are nurses, and family and friends and I have decided I am going to go with CSU San Marcos over the ADN program. This hasn't been an easy choice, but I know I...
  11. Nursing school or not? ADN or BSN?

If RN is what you want to start off with then definitely go BSN. What entry level jobs do they hire for ADNs in your area? Like CNA?
  12. MD office to owning a practice

I am not an NP, but I have interned for an opthalmologist who did his MD/MBA dual degree and owns his own clinic which has been open for about 3 years. He said he makes a lot less than he would just working for someone because he has to pay staff (2 ...
  13. Med Surg vs ICU for Practicum

I agree with the above post. You should go into a unit that interests you so that you learn skills pertaining to that specific unit. Also, if the unit that you choose ultimately wasn't for you, at least you have eliminated that floor for the future a...
  14. Finding an ABSN program

Hi, just like the others said, I looked up a list of the ABSN programs in my state and surrounding states and made a spreadsheet of all the classes they needed and the classes I took. If they had obscure prereqs like pathophysiology or others that I ...
  15. Nursing school or not? ADN or BSN?

I would research your area to see if hospitals hire new grad ADNs. If they do, then you should go for the ADN route. I live in Southern California where it is a lot tougher for new ADNs to land a desirable job in the big hospitals, so I am going for ...
  16. Hi, it seems we are both in similar situations. About me: I graduated from CSULB with a BS in Healthcare Administration in 2015. I recently was accepted to both an ADN program at a community college and the ABSN program at CSUSM. I started taking my ...
  17. BA to ADN/BSN/Direct Entry or Medical School or MPH?

Have you considered physician's assistant? It would save you from getting a BSN then an NP degree to just get the Masters for PA. It seems like the fastest way to get to the clinical setting for you.
  18. ADN or BSN

I suggest to make sure the ERs in your area are hiring ADNs, especially new ones. Otherwise, I would go for the BSN route.
  19. NP or PA*** PLEASE HELP

I would probably go for the PA route because you can go directly into it after you finish your Bachelor's as long as you complete the hours etc. For the NP, you would have to go through 2 more degrees (ABSN and NP) to become an NP. It seems like the ...
  20. CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2017

The email just said orientation will be scheduled soon. So no one knows yet.
  21. MS or BS in Nursing?

Thank you! Yeah they look at last 60 units because it is more indicative of how you're doing recently. They also look at science gpa and TEAS score. If you do well in those 3 areas you have a good chance at this program. They just need to see that yo...
  22. MS or BS in Nursing?

I recently got accepted to CSU San Marcos for their ABSN. You can look into it if you meet the requirements to apply.
  23. LA County Jobs, ADN or BSN

I would be applying specifically to new grad residency programs that have a longer orientation and additional classes to prepare new nurses for the floor, after which they will most likely hire you. Hospitals like UCLA and USC have these types of pro...
  24. LA County Jobs, ADN or BSN

Hi everyone, I am wondering how the job market is for new graduate RNs who have an ADN vs a BSN. I have been accepted to both types of programs and want to know if hospitals in this region are still hiring new ADN nurses, or do they prefer BSN candi...
  25. LA County Jobs, ADN or BSN

The ADN route would be about $10k at a community college and with an RN-BSN would be an additional $15-18k. So about $28k for 3 years. I would be able to commute from home as well. The BSN route would be at CSUSM and costs about $50k for 2 years. I ...
