1. I also did this. Got approval day one!
2. So got my final grades back today after hitting that submit button last Sunday night. I'm floored. It is over. I did it. April 28th I will walk across the stage and graduate like a BA getting a BA! It took me 12 months and fourteen days! I am so happy and cannot believe it! Thank you flames for all the guidance and help. I cannot tell you the difference it has made!
3. We are using the week that nothing is due to complete the following weeks assignments. So instead of the assignment taking a week to complete it is two weeks. I guess. I am so ready to hit submit! This is week five so five more to go and then D.O.N.E!!!!!
4. Yes. It is all the same assignments as the 5 week just spaced out over 10. I actually wish it was just five weeks because like flames it is a topic I am interested in and it is easy to write about. The other thing I don't like about the ten weeks is that you still have two DQ's each week. So technically we get 10 more dqs then the five week class got. Weeks 5,7, and 8 there is no "assignment" due by Sunday so that's nice but you have those extra dqs still. I called and asked why they changed the class and it had something to due with the amount of hours you needed to claim for the "clinical" experience.
5. I am actually halfway through it! This is week five! It is actually going pretty well. The fact that it is ten weeks spreads it out pretty good to where you don't feel overwhelmed. I am so ready to be done!!!!
6. I took trends and patho together. Both were good classes. I enjoyed patho a lot because it was more than just researching and writing a paper. It was more clinical thinking. I will post how the capstone goes!
7. Unfortunately Capstone is for TEN WEEKS!!!!!!!!! But I am just gonna put my head down get it down!!!! I am so over RESEARCH!!!!!! Geez. Thank you for the info!
8. Ok so I am about to start my capstone and am confused by this "Contact your BON" thing going on. Is that only about moving on to get your MSN or are you saying that my state (NM) may not recognize me as a BSN RN because I got it from GCU?
9. I am a current student now. What questions do you have?
10. Ok awesome thank you so much!
11. Does anyone know where I can find the Texas CNA scope of practice?? We are about to redo our protocols and provide education to our CNA staff and I cannot find the scope of practice listed anywhere. HELP!!!! Thanks!
12. So I want to do something on how more errors are made in the ER when nurses are interrupted during the medication process. My comparison would be uninterrupted vs interrupted I guess. Not sure on the intervention exactly thought about barcode scanners. Lots of hospitals have went to this to decrease medication errors. As far as time frame I think that the past 5-7 years of research would be ok?!?
13. Hello friends! I am needing help formulating a PICOT question on the topic of Medication Errors. I am just concerned on how to word it and what area to gear it towards as I will have to build on it over the rest of my BSN program (GCU). I need it to be something that I can do in depth continued research on so that makes it very hard for me to do. I am hitting a wall here. HELP!! Thanks!
14. I am in my last week of Stats this week cant say I will miss it much! However, I had better luck with it then Ethics (I took both together). I thought Ethics was going to be more patient related and I was very wrong. I will be starting Nursing research next week anyone have an instructor that stuck out to recommend for it?
15. My main issue has been just trying to find consistency with classroom requirements. For example the first stats class i was placed in the instructor wanted the two DQ posts and then five FIVE 5!!! student responses per DQ. Just reading it overwhelmed me (especially doubled up like I am) so I traded into a different class and it has saved me! I am treading water while taking Stats and Ethics together. I really appreciate all the help I have gotten through this thread! I am trying to just keep trucking...
16. I just completed the first week and it is ok so far. Lots of writing!!!!! I am better at Stats then I am spirituality. I have a harder time understanding what exactly the instructor wants with these topics. I am hoping to be able to continue doubling up as long I can find good instructors. If you have a recommendations please PM me!!
17. Hopefully you have already found a wonderful job but for others that experience this problem here is my 2 cents. My best friend had a really hard time finding a job due to lack of experience when she first got her license. She was told several times that she just didn't have enough experience. She would consistently complain to me that it was unfair. I reviewed her resume not as her friend but as a boss and she had next to no experience listed. I immediately started asking her what skills she has mastered and would feel comfortable performing right now. She started telling me all sorts of procedures and skills she had done and feels comfortable with. I asked why she had not put that stuff down and she said because it was in nursing school! I explained to her that she needs to list that stuff under experience since that is exactly what it is. She listed all of it as clinical experience and is now working in a small hospital!
18. Hello all! I am currently a student at GCU and am trying to double up on the following four classes: NRS-433V

Introduction to Nursing Research

NRS-451VN Nursing Leadership and Management

NRS-410V Pathophysiology and Nursing Management of Clients' Health

NRS-440VN Trends and Issues in Today's Health Care

I am wondering if anyone who has taken these classes could weigh in on how to double them and also if anyone has recommendations for good instructors for these courses that would be so appreciated!!! Thanks so much PS: I am currently doubled up in Stats and Spirituality
19. I used Hurst as my only program. It is content based not "question" based and honestly it saved my nursing life. I learned more from that program than I ever learned in nursing school. I loved it and I am a better nurse for it now. The lecture on Acid Base was like Boom MIND BLOWN! I recommend it to every future RN I know. I passed in 75 questions and I knew I passed before even standing up because I understood the "why's" of the NCLEX. This program is worth every penny. I did it exactly how they say to. They explain everything in ways that are easy to understand and I cannot tell you how many times I said "Why didn't they teach us like this in nursing school?!?"

21. I work in the emergency dept and have seen situations such as this arise often. It is not uncommon for the techs in these positions to have quite a few years of experience under their belt. It is also not uncommon for this to give them what we call at my facility "techitis". This inflammatory response results in the tech lashing out at new employees who are considered "over" them. I don't like to use the term "over" anyone but brass tax it is the truth. They function under your license just like you are under the mid levels who are under the doctor. I believe this response to occur as a direct result of the tech feeling a lack of respect and also a little threatened. I can tell you that this absolutely happened to me. I found that two things worked best for me. First of all I started as a tech and I know how difficult tech work can be. Therefore, I pulled the "ring leader" of the techitis movement aside and thanked them. Thanked them for their hard work and for helping me to help patients. I told this tech what I had noticed to be their strong point which was their knowledge about patient care and protocols. I told her that if she was interested in watching any procedures I perform I would be happy to have her sit in. I felt this acknowledged her hard work and subtly asserted myself as the lead in patient care. It worked out well and, through my friendship, this tech is now in nursing school realizing just how hard I had to work to get this RN title. With another tech that was creating a problem I earned their respect through my performance. I helped them when they needed help. Never dumped on them because I did not want to wipe a bottom. And I know my ****. I think the main thing that new nurses suffer from that makes them the target for techitis and other inflammatory responses is LACK OF CONFIDENCE. Be Confident. This rest will come.
22. Flames Thank you for the response! I guess I will try stats with spirituality and see how I do with that. Out of the group projects I have had three have went super well, one not so great. I just want to finish ASAP because I feel like all I have done for the past five years is school! Do know who is a good instructor to get for Nursing research, patho, and the capstone? PM if you can! Thanks again!!
23. Hello! I am about to finish my fourth class and am starting Stats next. I am interested in doubling up with it. I have Trends, Patho, Leadership, Ethics, and Nursing Research still to complete in addition to Stats. Which of these would any of y'all recommend doubling up with. Ideally I would like to pair off all of these classes and then do the capstone on its own of course. Are there any y'all would steer me away from doubling. I am a devoted student. I do work three 12 hour shifts a week in the ER and have kiddos but so far I have been completing all my classes with A's and want to try to finish as quickly as possible. Any advice or help even related to good instructors for these classes would be tremendously appreciated!!
