Anything I can do with nursing and history degrees?
When I was in nursing school there was a professor who was a nursing historian. She had a big foundation grant and traveled around the world, documenting & taking photos of statues of nurses! I think she wrote a book. A sweet job indeed.

anxiety about evening Childcare
I often worry about nurses who work nights and wonder who is taking care of their kids. This never seems to be discussed in HR or by management. I give single parents so much credit. It's such a hard job.

Curious how Magnet Hospitals & employment?
Doesn't the hospital have tuition reimbursement? You should look into this, if they are mandating this they should provide $$ support. Some hospitals contract with a college to hold classes in the hospital to make it convenient.

How can I make an impact in healthcare?
There is a great need to help everywhere you look! You can make a difference in your little corner of the world by reaching out to those in the greatest need in your community. You need to look inside and reflect on your passions & goals. Nursing can take you in so many directions. I have worked in industry, medical writing, biotechnology, clinical research, academia/teaching and had my own consulting/coaching business. You can certainly work in advocacy or for a non-profit organization. Good luck!

Anyone catch HIV from patients as a Nurse or Nursing student? My biggest fear!
I worked with full blown AIDS patients in the late 1980's. I was young and I guess felt invincible. Had exposure to urine and fluids a few times so was lucky not to convert. If you do have exposure you need to report it to supervisor and get tested.
