  1. Our state just legalized recreational marijuana this week. So my question for AN is, what is your opinion on what we should do with it when (non-cancer) patients have/use edibles on a healthcare unit? Its legal, so should we treat it like cigarettes & send it to security lock-up until they're released? Do we discard it because it is still a federal crime? Do we send it to pharmacy to register it as a home medication? If so, how do you feel about dispensing it to patients along with their other medications? BTW, our hospital has not addressed this fully in policy as of yet. Thank you for your input!
  2. The vitals machine may have produced an erroneous BP reading. Therefore, the doc was correct in suggesting/verifying you followed up with a manual BP verification.
  3. "To me, the problem is unrealistic expectations for floor nurses, short staffing, customer service mentality, high nurse to patient ratios where increasing patient acuity is not taken into consideration"
  4. Yes, I noticed roughly 1/3 of the NCLEX questions I remembered from reading specific Uworld rationals. I thank Jesus for directing me to the right knowledge prior to my NCLEX because I only did 500 Uworld questions.
  5. I found Uworld harder than the NCLEX. My NCLEX ended at 80 questions & took me 4 HOURS! Lol, I was in NO hurry hahaha
  6. Uworld-RN April 2017 Thread for discussing the Uworld x2 Self-assessment scores, Overall %, number of total questions completed, and comparison of these predictions with our pass/fail experiences on the NCLEX-RN. 7. I just finished my NCLEX-RN exam. 4 hours, 80 questions. I haven't looked at my PVT yet
  8. NCLEX is scheduled for 3/31/17 400 Uworld questions completed so far ... Overall performance score: 58% Overall performance rank: 75th Self-assessment #1 score: 77% Self-assessment percentile: 97 (Chance of passing NCLEX) Self-assessment #2 score: 69% Self-assessment percentile: 88
  9. I take my NCLEX this Friday 3/31/17 and HAVE to pass because my new job starts on Monday Boards are enough stress already by itself, but all of this extra pressure of my licence deadline is almost too much to bear. I know that God brought me this far, He wont "FAIL" me now. I must stay focused & keep the faith. Please keep me in your prayers AN :)

  13. So, is it still "vasovagal syncope" if it is pure psychologial onset? Eg. merely thinking of blood leads to fainting). Or does there need to be a tangible trigger to be classified as "vasovagal." Also, I personally am completely unfazed by live open thoracic surgeries, cadaver labs, blood draws, etc. So why do I repeatedly get serious vertigo when I see awake/talking women getting Nexplanon BC inserted during my FP clinic days? What gives?
  14. Strange how some score low on Assessment % but its translating to a higher Percentile? (Some say they get 74% assessment, equaling a 97 Percentile of passing, but others get 85% and 90th percentile?)
  15. Im a newgrad starting overnight shifts on a 7 patient medsurg assignment. Just starting out, will I have "down time" to study up on policies & procedures, EBP, meds, etc? I will have a 6 week didactic orientation but I hear its very fast paced & they just read a bunch of slides so its hard to retain all of the information. My peer cohort is planning on learning the P&Ps on their weekends off of work, but I have a better idea... I am thinking of taking up an online masters program to keep me out of trouble on my nights off, (up all night at home alone with nothing constructive to do). However, it seems like my other newgrad peers working graves use their nights off to study all of the hospital policies & procedures, practice standards, EBP that we didnt learn in school/clinicals. So I just dont want to take on too much by using my first year of nights off work to further my masters education, if it means I will meet less than ideal standards at work. Is it unreasonable to hope to keep up my P&P learning working graveyard shift? I am trying to make altering my circadian rhythms and upheaving my social life, into a positive thing. So Im looking to choose my perspective to be that I will have time to focus on studying while its (less hectic, aka Q*IET) on a night schedule. I am hoping there may be a few hours of down time during my night shift to periodically study work related materials between call lights, sundowners, etc? Im guessing between 2am after my assessments & charting is reasonably caught up, and up until like 6am before I have to get ready for shift change hand-off? I thank you for your experienced opinions night-shifters!
  16. Just realized the first grade score we are shown immediately after completing each Hurst Q Review is a PERCENTAGE! And no, they do not qualify this number with a "%." Sooooo I was freaking out for nothing! The absolute numerical score is listed on the itemized "Previously Taken Attempts" Q Review list. LOL gave me a scare good enough to get my caboose in high study gear mode though! Hahaha ACTUAL scores: 62 / 125 = 50% ... 72 / 125 = 58% on the low side, but manageable
