Looking for a new preceptor with out backlash
I spoke with them before and there's usually an excuse as to why they do it that way such as: "my preceptor did this to me" "no one will help you, so you have to figure it out yourself". I've had 2 other preceptors while my original preceptor was out sick and it was amazing, unfortunately, one is friends with him so I'm not sure if he'll take me on as an orientee. and the other nurse I haven't had a chance to speak to him to ask if he'd be willing to take me on. Yeah I'm going to have to deal with his theatrics no matter what I do.

Why Do New Grads Lack Critical Thinking Skills?
As a new grad orientee, I feel like there is a multitude of reasons why critical thinking is lacking in new grads for me, COVID took away from my clinical experience time where I was learning to critically think while in school along with my clinical skills practice too. Due to the shortage of nurses, I'm being precepted by a nurse who's only been a nurse for a little over a year and has no patience, and has an expectation that I should know how to do everything as if I've had experience in this role before which makes no sense seeing as I'm a new grad with no previous medical background prior. Also with the patient ratios, no one has time to sit down with new nurses to go over critical thinking.

Looking for a new preceptor with out backlash
I'd like advice on what I should do about asking for a new preceptor. My preceptor is someone I went to nursing school with, they graduated 6 mos prior and they also helped me land an interview for my current position. I'm exceeding greatful for thier assistance to land this postition but... for the last 6 weeks I've done 90% of everthing on my own (medpass, charting, assessments, patient care...) with little to no supervision, I never do anything I've never done before alone and I always ask questions (I'm usually going to other nurses for help) but when I ask for assistance or for help or questions I'm met with annoyance or a frustrated response, to which I've just been dealing with because I know that's how nursing can be at times. But it's becoming overwhelming working with this person who has no patience with me, has me doing all the work while they talk at the nurses station while I do everything on my own, then berates me when I don't know something that was supposed to be taught or shown to me, or if I'm running behind because I'm doing EVERYTHING (won't even check call lights, comes to me and tells me about it). A few of the other nurses on the unit offer me assistance because they see that I'm on my own despite still being a new grad orientee only half way through my training probationary period. I want to seek a new preceptor but I also don't want the backlash from my preceptor who is in my opinion along with a few other nurses is the unit bully. I'm at a loss because I love the job I get along with my coworkers, but he makes my day awful and I work at a psych hospital. Also I've had a conversation with him regarding how he speaks to me and my concerns.

Fall 2018 CSN Hopefuls?
I know people who've applied and gotten in with less, if you've passed all the minimum requirements your pretty much in unless there's an absurd influx of applicants. Then they look at points, but honestly points are reserved for students on the waitlist.

CSN Fall 2018 Nursing Program
Just apply! I knew a girl with only the core 5 classes done and she was waitlisted, but then enrolled in the Fall cohort. Some students apply to more than one program especially in the fall, NSC's application is in May so seats can open then too. the worst that can happen is you get a waitlist. As long as you have everything DO IT! Are those the only two classes you have left?

Roseman University 18-month Program?
How expensive is the ABSN/BSN program if you don't mind my asking? I am on a tight budget and although Roseman meets my time goal for my education I'm wary of spending too much. For me financially too much is over $60k. Please PM me if you're not comfortable posting on here.

what would you do? Private or public!
I've already taken the private school's entrance exam (HESI) and scored in the 90's in most areas 85% overall (TEAS I scored a 75% overall 64% is the minimum), now I have to pass the interview portion of the admittance process. My advisor at this school says I'm a strong candidate for this program and I have all but one of my core classes finished for this program which is included in the overall program, their pass rates over the last five years has been good as well. I appreciate everyone's feedback!

what would you do? Private or public!
I've spoken with my advisor only thing I can do is finish up my Microbiology class to have more points towards my application, re-take my TEAS exam to get a higher score (more points), and I've already retaken two classes I've gotten "C's" in to bump my GPA up which is a 3.35 now. Not really interested in getting my CNA/MA certifications job market is saturated in my area for those jobs, and my school just phased out the LPN/LVN program and other institutions charge WAYYYY too much.

what would you do? Private or public!
Essentially I can afford both. I've managed to pay for everything out of pocket so far so that when I get into a program I can depend more on student loans, which I've been approved for. Both Programs have strong passing NCLEX rates, and both are fully board certified and accredited.

what would you do? Private or public!
Hello Everyone! So I have a dilemma, and I'd appreciate some advice. I applied to my local public school Nursing program to which I wasn't accepted into due to the number of applicants, and my application not being the strongest compared to others. I also have an opportunity to be accepted into a private school nursing program where my chances I feel are greater of being accepted. But here's the catch! The private school is over 15K more but I'll finish up to nine months sooner if I decided to wait again for the public school nursing program. So do I wait another nine months until the public program starts again (Pending acceptance), or do I bite the bullet and pay more and finish sooner. I'm about to be thirty and I also have no children so I'd like to finish up with school so I can start a family and have a life other than school, but 15-20K would be a large amount of money to pay back. So there are pros and cons I need to weight out....So, what would you do in my shoes?

Everest College RN Program
Ladies, who've graduated from Everest now Altierus career college, are you able to find jobs in hospitals? I want to apply but this stops/worries me. I wanted to Apply to CSN but too much back in forth with inaccurate information provided to students. I'm willing to jump through hoops but geez I feel like a dog in a ringling brothers circus act.

CSN Spring 2018
Do you recall who you spoke with? I just took my Teas for the second time and I received a 74.5% in reading this go round while I received an 87% on my initial exam, I really hope I'm still able to apply on the 1st of September. I've got everything else done; my teas are the only thing holding me back. UGH!! i'm going to be so mad if half a percent derails me.

Fill In The Blank...
As a nurse, some fears are unavoidable – especially when a patient says "Oh! that wasn't a bedpan, well I really had to go".

If you're applying for Fall 2017 they will be adding CNA course to the prerequisites to apply for the nursing program.
