Single mom and nursing student
I'm a single mom of an 8 year and just finished my 2nd semester. Its hard but it can be done! I also work between 30 and 50 hours depending on the week. Luckily I work from home so I am able to get that done on odd hours usually when he's at school or sleeping. The key is all organization. I have a planner and plan out everything in advance.

Going back to school at 30
I'm 30 and in my first semester of nursing school. It's the hardest thing I've done in a long time but I love it and am glad I made the decision to go back. Go for it!

BP
Just posting to say you're not alone. We tried in lab then I went home and tried again. Finally after trying on different family members, checking my notes, watching videos and hearing samples, I think I'm beginning to get it
- How old were you when you started nursing school?

Do you consider yourself a "pre-nursing student" or "nursing student?"
I'm accepted into a program but I won't call myself a nursing student until I start nursing classes in August.

Question for Day Shift Nurses Who Own a Dog
I know when I was younger I went to the town youth bureau and they set us up with odd jobs, I did babysitting and cleaning jobs through them. Maybe see if your area has a youth bureau around and you can get a high school kid to come after school to let her out.

It seems that some students are not a good fit for nursing.
I've seen this in my pre-nursing classes as well. I've had classmates talk during the whole class, sleep, refuse to take a test because they didn't know we'd have one (even though it was on the syllabus from day one), etc. It does annoy me a little but as long as their actions arent effecting my grades then I just leave it alone and trust they'll weed themselves out.

Two Lab Courses at Once
I took A&P I and chemistry together and got an A in both without any issues. If you have time to dedicate to studying, you should do fine.
