Brown Mackie College?
I went to the Kansas City one. It costs a ton, and most of the teachers were actually great. BUT, be prepared to spend a ton of time teaching yourself the material, because one month isn't enough time to cover all topics required in a course. I wouldn't recommend them highly, but I got a decent education, at that location at least. I have heard that they've fired all my precious teachers and have started over, which is the kind of baloney they pull because it's a for profit school. I would have loved to go somewhere else, but the wait lists for community college were too long around here.

Why are patients admitted to the hospital for a simple routine CT scan?
I am in a short stay unit in the hospital, specifically for patients like this. It's technically outpatient, but we are open 24 hrs Mon-Fri, closing up on Saturday am. The docs send us small surgeries, biopsies, and anything from the ED that needs a little more observation. We give the patient a room, but they aren't even always there overnight, but can stay up to 48 hrs.

What is your Nursing Kryptonite?
I'm so grossed out by feeding people. I hate standing there waiting and listening to them chew before they are tray for their next bite. I don't have to do it too often, but when it comes up in just so irrationally grossed out by it, I don't even get it myself!

Nurses with tattoos??
Where are you planning on getting it? I have a wrist tattoo that is conveniently covered by my watch or long sleeves in the winter. It does seem like every facility I have worked in days that you can't have them showing, but only 2 out of 4 have enforced that rule. They also say no piercings, but I haven't ever been asked to remove my teeny tiny silver nose ring.

pregnant and job searching?!!
I would go ahead and apply for PRN jobs. I wouldn't think that they would care if you were pregnant.

Should I not even consider nursing if I am prone to contact dermatitis?
I do take my own hand soap to work. I don't get to use it every time I need to wash, but I try to use it more often than not. I also butter myself with lanolin, coconut oil and just plain lotion after every couple hand washes. I also think using actual soap and water to wash dries your skin out less than the alcohol foam. I was also scared of this going in, but if you find a good system you can protect your hands.
