  1. Like people have said before I would shop around to see if there are any programs available without those requirements. If not I would hope you'd use a few months of your G.I. bill as opposed to being homeless.
  2. I would recommend printing out the pcs form and become familiar with what goes where. There were a couple of fails for people missing paperwork. I can only speak for the current study guide. I'm not familiar with the new one. I waited about 3 months to test. Being open to cancellations will drastically reduce wait time. Call constantly if you want to test earlier. Although I am finish with the program I am still waiting for EC to finish processing my graduation and should recieve my diploma with next month's cycle.
  3. First i did a excelsior atudy guide read through making tabs for abything that seemed important. Then I started off studying care plans and mnemonics. I signed up for atl online workshop. With that I also got their study guide. The videos included a lot of careplan examples and their study guide had previously made mnemonics. I put the mnemonics on flash cards and whenever I was out i would practice them. At home I would watch careplan videos. Later I started practicing labs and full pcs. I spent 3 months in total studying but I would say study tIL you're comfortable and after that study some more. If possible I would have enjoyed more pcs practice.
  4. Yes there is some variability in terms of dealing with the CE and patient but it's your job to be completely prepared. You can't get gigged for doing everything perfect. Those theories (Quotas) are unfounded and probably made up by someone who couldn't take ownership for a fail. For some people it's a defense mechanism blame someone or something else for my fail. My two tips would be TRY to control your nerves as best you can. Also treat the exam like a job interview, show up first day professionally dressed to impress and conduct yourself as a healthcare professional.
  5. Just passed my Human Growth & Development CLEP. All degree requirements are now met. Glad to be done.
  6. Got the green light from EC to clep it. I'll be trying that website. Hoping to test within the next couple of weeks. Plan is to be done by the time they recieve my cpne results.
  7. Life span development psychology.
  8. Passed my cpne this weekend past. One more class and I am done. Hoping to be allowed to clep it.
  9. Thank you. Double post*
  10. Yep next month is my month. Hoping for the best preparing for the worst.
  11. I did a couple of times a day. Once around when they open and after lunch eastern time.
  12. Update. Have a test date of July 15th. Started by doing a study guide read through and tabbing. Next I'm working on care plans and wound lab Station
  13. I will say that having done the exams recently the ones that were updated/changed recently were more difficult than the older ones and found less connection between practice exam and actual exam.
  14. I came into it knowing the long wait time but am now hoping for a relatively short wait time. Have a deployment coming up and would like to be done with everything before then.
  15. Just finished both FCCA finals. Now onto the beast. It's been a difficult journey so far and the hardest challenge is ahead of me. I can't wait to have it all behind me.
  16. I did the combined exam without too much difficulty. I went with it because it seemed the most efficient. If it's more of a review would recommend doing both together. If you haven't taken any ap classes in the past do them separately.
  17. I got a 62 and 78 and received an A on the exam. Given your scores I would expect Atlease a B. Best of luck and try not to let anxiousness get on the way.
  18. Last update before Christmas break. Was able to complete life span 1 & 2. Have life span 3 and reproductive health to go before hopefully making the February FCCA.
  19. congrats every exam is a milestone. this will be the first exam i take next year. hoping to make feb fcca.
  20. Thanks. Good luck with a&p I took the combined exam. If it's anything like that it's pretty straight foward. The practice exam is a very good indicator and was actually harder than the real exam.
  21. Taking foundations tomorrow. Been using studyguide , nclex review and medsurg text for this one. Scored 54 and 68 on the practice exams. Hoping for the best tomorrow. With the exam changes to life span 1 & 2 taking place this January am hoping to knock those out also before then.
  22. Little update, I will be taking my third nursing exam (health difference) tomorrow. Then on to foundation in nursing practice. Hoping to at the very least finish phase one by the end of the year.
  23. To any Excelsior associate grads did any of your nursing classes transfer to WGU. I ask because I'm planning to attend wgu to get my bsn and would like to know what classes I should spend extra time on getting that higher grade. As it stands now I'm spending a couple of weeks per class to get a B and if some of the classes transfer i would be more inclined to spend the extra week or so striving to achieve an A.
  24. On youtube i watched videos under 'AnatomyGMC' and 'PofessorFink'. Usually at around 1.5 playback speed.
  25. I finally decided to take the plunge the last week of August to pursue my nursing degree. Having been to multiple colleges in the past few years it took a while for Excelsior to receive all my transcripts. The wait seemed like forever but I always tell myself anything worth having is worth waiting for. Three and a half weeks later i am notified of the classes i need to complete the program. All the nurses exams (to be expected) along with Information literacy, Lifespan psy, A&P 1 + 2 and Microbiology. My original plan was to spend a month on the AP 1+2 exam then take the INL and Lifespan Psy as courses and beginning my nursing theory by the end of the year. This changed after finding out I didn't need lifespan psy to start nursing exams. Figure I'll do it as a wait for a CPNE date. The practice exams are and were an amazing investment, instead of wasting the entire month studying for the AP exam i was able to gauge how prepared I was and took the exam about two weeks after studying. Got my results and was pleased, one exam down one more to go for prereq. The following two weeks i spent studying Microbiology. After doing both practice exams with studying between of course I set a test date to keep myself on track. Today was that day and am glad to have it over with. My goal by the end of this week is to finish INL and move on to my first nursing exam.
