Hello, I was curious about how the lpn course in Canadian valley is going?

In my area, tattoos must be covered up. Piercings are okay as long as they aren't extreme. Lip piercing and gauges are a no no. I had a fellow nursing student who had very sexual tattoos and she almost got kicked out of the program for refusing to cover her arms up.

If I was an employer trying to decide between two evenly matched candidates and one was posting pictures of them drinking or partying constantly, I might chose the other.

When I was in my nursing program, we actually had a nurse yell at a student to move out of her chair and computer. There was at least five other computers open. We had nurses that complained about us and our teacher while we were in the room. The set a very poor example of what a work environment should be like. I heard multiple students say they would never work there. It gave a bad reputation to the hospital. Some nurses are very disrespectful to students, they see us as extra work. I would take this as a lesson to not be like them in the future. Granted I understand why they were mad at us, our clinical instructor sat in the break room the whole entire time.

It makes me wonder what if, the mother was the nurse on duty taking care of the rape victim, I wonder if she would still be delusional and protect her son. If you saw all the first hand I doubt you would be able to defend him.

My sister in law, just got her BSN, and she is working as a student nurse at a veterans hospital in California. She was shocked when they said if she does not pass her Nclex on the first test that they would not hire her as a real full time employee. I have never heard of that before. I think it is wrong if you pass, you pass it shouldn't matter how many times you have taken it. Also, when you apply for jobs, are they able to see how many times you have taken the test?

I would just go straight for the BSN, I have heard several people saying they are trying to make a law that requires nurses with an ADN to get their BSN within four years. Yes! I was in a RN program, failed out. But I never felt confident or comfortable talking to patients or family. One time during the program I was told to give a patient a bed bath, and I did but in the back of my mind I was thinking "This is what CNAs are for, why am I doing this ? Can't I learn something useful?" Now being a cna made me realize how important they are, how busy they are, and truthfully it has made me a better person. It also made me FINALLY understand all the Cna, lpn, Rn role questions. After working as a Cna for a couple months you will lose the fear of bodily fluids, if you are using standard safety precautions then it shouldn't be gross. I think it will be worthwhile. My Cna class was a month long, around $600 bucks, I would work as a cna for a couple months to get the gist of it. Plus, you can always work for a staffing agency while in College, it pays better and you can pick when you want to work.

I think you handled it well! You froze momentarily then took charge of the situation. Nursing, like everything else takes practice and time.

My husband is in a BSN nursing program, he is worried about employment since he is colorblind. What are your options? Can you be hired in a hospital or would that be a safety issue? Thank you.

I believe I decided upon Canadian valley in El Reno, I heard multiple people give it good reviews. Did you go there? How long did it take you to complete the program, if you do not mind me asking? I heard it takes 24 months! Any info would be much appreciated thank you.

It may sound horrid of me but I always keep coworkers an arm length away. Polite but not friends. With some friendships comes drama, and I do not need that added stress. You will have to be one special person for me to step out of my comfort zone for you.

Does any one know if these two programs are a go at your own pace book work wise? I was in an lpn program at pioneer tech in ponca city, ok and you could go as fast as you want . But I had to move away in the first two months.

I am looking for LPN programs around the OKC area. I used to live in Ponca city and I attended Pioneer tech (Which is an amazing program with great instructors. I recommend it to anyone) it was a go at your own pace program, and I went pretty fast, I probably could have finished in nine months, but unfortunately I had to move before I completed it. I was wondering if there is any programs like that near me? Or any online programs?

If you have a facebook almost every state has a page for scrubs. In my area there is a page called selling and swapping scrubs. I found good deals on there.

Almost ten months.

After being a cna for six month, I lost all motivation to become a nurse. I see how cut throat it is everyday and how much drama it is. Alot of responsibility and work with little appreciation. But then again you will have issues at any place you work at.

I am a cna who is 30 weeks pregnant and I have been working 12 hour shifts, recently I have had blood pressure and blood sugar issues that make me extremely dizzy. I quit my job with no notice because I fainted on the job the day before. Which they were not happy about. I tried giving them a doctors note and they said what is the use if you already quit. I just hate to be on bad terms with a nursing home. I am worried that because I quit with no notice that in the future other jobs will not hire me or do you think they will be understanding? Also, is this considered abandonment?
