Takes much practice and 8 months isn't nearly enough. You just have to keep doing them even if you miss. It's just that simple. Regardless, you CAN stick by sight, I've been doing them since 1998 all in the ED. You have to use all your tools to be top notch. Using feel or sight , anatomy , ultrasound , old people big people little people . Nothing is going to subuitute practice. All you have to do is work in the ED and you will be a pro in two years. Even the ultrasound isn't going to substitute practice. Develop your own technique after much practice. It's that simple ..

The best thing you can do for yourself is seek rehab and let your lawyer handle the legal formalities. It will get a lot worse before it gets better then all of sudden you will be breathing again.

Yes you do have the option of voluntary surrender.

I don't know the answer to your question but can definitely understand your concern. In my humble opinion, everything is on the table. This is an extreme case so prepare for the fight of your life. I truly wish you the best of luck.

Be honest and professional but in your own best interest , don't elaborate on details. Just simply answer the questions they ask you.

A record as such will make any job area of interest more difficult. If you listen to other people telling you things can't be done, you will never prosper. At the end of the day , you have to follow your gut instincts. If you truly want this , it's very achievable. People been telling me things like that all my life and it's just fuel for motivation. I say do it.

Very good advice so far. If you can make it through nursing school , you can make it through this also. It's not going to get better overnight but if you work hard, do things the right way, and keep a low profile , you will succeed. Just don't ever give up.

Yes but after many, many fail attempts. You have to obviously be persistent untill successful.

I can definitely relate as I was facing the same issue. I took a year off and I did it for several reasons. One to get my life back in order and reset. Repair my marriage, finances etc. To have enough time to satisfy the first year of my contract. I wanted to wait till I regained my narcotics privileges. I felt like my chances were stronger this way verses not having them and also avoided losing out on a lot of jobs . I just didn't feel ready. I didn't have any difficulties getting a job and I just simply explain the gap.

It just means the conditions of the contract will be published to public view.The CANDO contract is confidential and hidden from public view . Essentially they are the same, it's just a matter of private vs public records. However the Cando is discarded after said years of compliance.

I share you pain that only time can heal. It definitely gets better. Just take it easy and go with flow , slow things down and relax. If I can make I feel like every nurse on this planet has a shot. Two years ago I wasn't hearing it but I promise it gets better.

She self reported and fought the board so that's an oversimplification of my comments. I'm not sure you understand and maybe I didn't provide clarity. I meant self report and stand down regardless of the situation. I don't agree , disgree , saying its right or whatever, I'm simply stating what has happen time after time to a lot of nurses in the same situation. It's a reality. Even if you are 100 percent correct doesn't mean they won't vote your license void. You living in a fantasy land if you don't believe what can can and will happen. The truth is in the pudding.

I understand everything quite perfectly but to the OP that asked the question in the first place, I rest my case. I was simply warning others what happens as a result. As I mentioned I think you have very valid points and I can relate. However if you simply self report, consent to the agreement it will be better for your career in the long run. (speaking generally ) Not picking on you because I feel your pain , but your case specifically proves my very point. The only reason I chose a different route because I had read some of these very blogs and nightmare stories. One statement I read convinced me . " Even if you are innocent you will still lose." Not saying I agree or disagree but I know a lone wolf like myself would be better off in joining the pack and resolve the true issues along the way at my discretion. As a result I survived.

Sounds like a nightmare and I am sorry that you have had to endure all of this heartache. I can't deny that you have made some vald points. I can also relate to some of the issues you have presented to the forum. Intialty I had some of the same feelings in this regard but eventually I realized the truth. Regardless of my feelings, facts , or opinions in the matter in general, I realized it was best to not fight the BON if in fact you are at least a tiny bit accountable in your own actions. For even if you are correct and you know some things to be a fact, challenging the board as such will almost always be detrimental to you. In other words, even if you are 99 percent correct, even if you win some victories , it will in the end have destroyed your career. Not withstanding the fact if you are innocent , never did anything wrong , and never taken a drug in your life or made any mistakes then I can promise that you have nothing to worry about and it will all come out in the end. However if any of that is in fact untrue , attorney or not , you will not win against the BON. All the proof you need can be found within this very forum and blogs .

Sure you can message me. I am always honest with them but the words you use are crucial. They are really aware of these issue anyway unlike HR.

Unless you address to addiction issues , you will definitely have problems in whatever arena of healthcare you decide to pursue. They are going to find out anyway especially since now it's all public records. Yes it will impact your pursuit in licensing but you can still obtain it if you are honest and involved in the recovery process. Additionally, you should seek legal advice.

I know for a fact that the John C Lincoln hospitals, and the abrazo hospitals are CANDO friendly. The Banners not so much. if you don't have any restrictions on your license , I feel it's realitively easy to land a job in one of those spots. You have to sell yourself first. And if they call you back for hiring, then you can disclose everything to the hiring manager. Once they have decide they like you it is much easier and it's all about timing. I can tell you exactly what to tell them. I have acquired several jobs that way some of which I ended up declining. I have had no problems for the most part.
