New grad wants to QUIT first job, PLEASE HELP.
I started on a ward I hated as well and quit after about 18 months. I wanted to quit like you after a month or two but knew at least a year would look better on my resume so planned to stick it out and complete the new grad program. then after 1 year it wasn't so bad after all that I made it another 6 months. just knowing it's not forever and you only have to be there 1 year might make it better. Just try to absorb as much as you can and focus on your career without letting unit politics get the better of you. Look at it as a challenge with an end in sight and it'll help get you through

Hate Floor Nursing? Don't Despair!
í ½í±í ¼í¿¼ thanks for sharing your positive outlook. I also tried several floor nursing jobs before I threw in the towel. Kept waiting to like what I was doing and realised it was never going to happen! Now I work in an office- based nursing role and much happier.

I feel nursing is more of a calling than anything else
I think regarding nursing as a "calling" is something new nurses can easily do before they are faced with what nursing really is. Nursing isnt about martyrdom and following a ~calling~ for many people. Pursuing a career that is flexible and yes going after the $$$ does not make you a bad nurse.

Are we "semi-professionals"
Today I was filling out a survey. Under the occupation section I immediately scanned for "professional" Boy was I startled to see these first 2 options: •professional (eg doctor, accountant) •semi-professional (eg nurse, technician) ummm what?!?! 😡😡😡 so frustrating to not be viewed as a professional when I have a bachelors degree, a speciality certificate, and 7 years experience not to mention a specialised knowledge and skill set for my PROFESSION of nursing!
