There is very little to do in South Jordan / near the campus - take a look on google maps ? SJ doesn't even have any true bars because the city council is strongly against it (though there are establishments that serve liquor, etc). Because you don't have to be on campus every day, I would recommend living somewhere closer to things you like to do, or in an area where you can save money. A number of my classmates lived in Sandy/Midvale which is still only a 15 minute drive or so.

The school is on break the first week of July, which is probably why there's a delayed response. I don't think the gaps between the shots will matter - if a did, a dr would have restarted your immunization series instead of continuing it. The gaps are to allow a specific minimum amount of time between each round, but they don't have to be given exactly X weeks apart. ?

If you don't have proof of your vaccinations (either dated medical records or titers) you'll need to get them again. You will have submit proof of all vaccines with dates to the school. Plenty of people were getting them while we were here in Utah. And of course some stuff you have to do every year (flu shot, TB test). All the vaccines you get for school should be covered by insurance because they're preventative healthcare.

Yes. We were told multiple times if we didn’t have proof of immunization we couldn’t participate in clinical. I believe you can skip flu shot (depending on the hospital) but if you do you have to wear a mask 100% of the time you’re at the hospital during flu season.

You will have on campus stuff to do (exams, labs). Exams and labs aren’t listed on the schedule in the enrollment packet. You will get a more detailed calendar for each class a couple weeks before it starts.

If you have the dates, that's probably all you'll get for now. My orientation was a Mon/Tue and I didn't get an email with more specific details until the Friday before. Looking back at that email it looks like we just got basic info and not a full schedule.

You should plan to be available for orientation most of the day, i think we went till like 3 both days.

If you go to SJ, you could live pretty much anywhere in the greater Salt Lake area. Some areas (like SJ) are more conservative and Mormon, and some are less so. You do NOT have to live in South Jordan - a 15 minute drive would put you in a different town and it may be closer to things you like to do. The dominant religion in Utah is Mormon, and this impacts some of your daily life. A lot of local businesses are closed on Sundays, and as a whole the area is much more family oriented than you might be used to. Alcohol laws are much more strict than NV. However it is not an issue to live here and NOT be Mormon, and you will (most likely) not be treated differently for it. Utah gets all four seasons and is cold with snow in winter and hot and dry in the summer. If you go to the SJ campus you are close to hiking, skiing, etc - all sorts of outdoors stuff within a 30 minute or so drive.

Nursing doesn’t have a white coat ceremony. Orientation is information, meeting your class, and getting your computer, etc.

About a week after I got my admissions offer and accepted it I got a follow up email with the admissions packet. That email gave a specific deadline to submit the packet (which included things like background check) that was about 10 days out. You'll be given more paperwork related to clinical once school is underway. Make sure you check your Roseman email daily and read the emails that you get. The clinical coordinators and other administrative people are very clear about what they need from you and when.

For those of you looking for apartments for the SJ campus, rentler.com is great. classifieds.KSL.com is the locally used version of Craigslist. No one really uses craigslist here. Don't feel like you have to live in South Jordan - SJ is pretty quiet and you may be happier choosing a place closer to things you like to do vs trying to be as close to campus as possible. SJ is also a longer drive to our clinical sites than some other areas you could live in.

You'll buy all your own supplies. You need at least a stethoscope and probably a pen light - we were told we don't need a BP cuff because we could borrow one but most people bought their own - you won't use it outside of fundamentals lab though. You also won't need anything right way, you'll have at least a month before you need any nursing supplies so you'll already be settled in. You can probably just buy everything when you go to buy your lab and clinical scrubs.

Honestly? Don't study ahead. You don't need to worry about other people having an advantage (being a CNA or an EMT does not really give you much of an advantage in the classroom - maybe in clinicals though). Nursing school is more than reading and memorization - you need to have the critical thinking aspect where you understand WHY something is happening, and that makes it difficult to try and study ahead outside of just being generally aware of what some medications and diseases/conditions are. You're about to start an accelerated nursing program with only two real breaks: a week in summer and 2 weeks at Christmas. NOW is your time to do the things you enjoy, visit friends and family, or learn to meal prep, or start a gym routine. You have 16+ months of studying ahead of you. It's ok to let yourself relax now, because you might not have a chance to relax later.

I do not attend the NV campus and didn't take NV Constitution, but did need take US History 1 to satisfy "US Constitution" which was/is a requirement for the Utah campus.

Re: the constitution class, I had to take a US history class (not in NV so didn't need that one) and they suggest we take a StraighterLine class for it, so I assume NV constitution will be similar to that - a super easy online course. I did the US history one in about 2 weeks over the Christmas break.

You won't need your resume or transcripts for the interview. The school already has that kind of info because you put it into NursingCAS ? The webinar happens the day before the interview and you'll probably get the invite close to the day of the webinar, not in advance.

1) My cohort has test groups of 7 or 8. We started with 36 people, lost 2, and picked up 3 so now we have 37. 2) Urine. 3) Traffic tickets should not be an issue. They are looking for things like felonies and sex offenses, they are not looking to exclude everyone who isn't perfect.

My interview was pretty easy/straightforward. We got a tour, got other info, did an easy writing prompt (it's basically to see if you are decent at communicating your thoughts, not anything hard) and then I interviewed with just one professor but generally you interview with a professor and a student. I don't remember what I was asked but it's things like "tell me about a time you went above and beyond" and "tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you resolved it" - generally behavior questions. You might also be asked why you want to be a nurse, etc. After they ask a couple questions you can ask some, and then you're all done! ? I like most of the professors a lot. I go to the UT campus and based on what I've heard, I feel like we are having a better academic experience than NV but I don't know how accurate that is. You'll have UT and NV professors for all the classes, but you won't interact with the other campus even though you are taking the same class online. We are treated like adults, and the professors are generally very available by phone, email, or in person. I feel like I will be well prepared for NCLEX. We go through material fast but based on how I do on practice questions in Saunders, ATI, etc I think I am learning the material and retaining it. I think NV has better clinical opportunities than UT, but I have overall enjoyed my clinicals. I've gotten to experience multiple hospitals in the areas, and the nurses in the area seem to like Roseman nurses. We have the ability to do a lot of skills, especially when you get to the second half of the program. Roseman isn't perfect (no school is) and there have been some frustrating experiences but overall I am really happy I chose Roseman and I feel like I will be well prepared for a nursing career.

With those stats, you will be competitive I think. assuming that you apply early- it's rolling admissions so applying early is important. Roseman is honestly not that hard to get into. They look at your GPA for all courses ever taken.

I don't believe this is true anymore, unless it is different at Henderson than it is at SJ. I didn't sign a waiver and was told that my transcript will have a GPA.

You need to contact the nursing schools you are interested in and ask them. Every school has a different policy.

I had Morales and Muhich. I don't remember whose class I was registered for, as they taught it together.
