  1. Just like Gr4ceffa said, sell yourself. They'll know you're a new grad so they'll probably ask you about things you would know.Maybe they'll ask a priority question in regards to caring for a patient or ask you to talk about a time a patient was difficult and what you did; I'm giving you those examples because that is what I got asked. Make eye contact with the person/people who are interviewing you. Don't know if it will be a panel but if it is and one person asks a question don't just look at them, make sure to make eye contact with everyone else. I can't help you regarding night shift, I am on days although I am on a med-surg floor. When you get a job I would recommend finding an good organizational sheet to have all your patients information and ask a lot of questions! I've been off orientation a few months now and I still ask questions if it is something new. Good luck with the interview!
  2. New Balance 990 with insoles work for me.
  3. The Board will not clear you to take the NCLEX until your school lets them know you are clear. If the school requires the exit exam, they wont send your name to the board until you pass.
  4. I really liked it. I recommend it! I used it through my last year in nursing school and while studying for the NCLEX. I would do on it when I was in line or waiting for anything, I would do questions. I would screenshot the one I got wrong and studied afterwards.
  5. I actually ended up making my own lab card with what I needed. I laminated it with thick tape and kept it on me. The ones from amazon didn't quite work for me but some of my classmates did have those and they liked them. I did purchase a miniature drug book that fit in my uniform pocket to carry during clinicals. It comes in handy for a quick reference.
  6. Good luck! I just took mine two days and I passed. I only used Kaplan and I was really happy with it. It really helps you to look at the question and figure out what they are asking. It also helped me get better and SATA and prioritization questions.
  7. I took, Psych, Nutrition, and sociology online. I took them online from my local community college.
  8. I am assuming "OPEN" means it is being reviewed. I'm in California and the best way of getting an idea of when you will receive your ATT is by looking at the processing times on the BRN website. It will show what applications they are currently reviewing ( by date submitted) and how many weeks they are currently taking to process applications. I don't know if they are processing faster but I submitted mine mid December and I did not get my ATT until mid March. Also, it depends when your school sends all of their paperwork. The BRN can not give you an ATT without the school's part. Hope this helps.
  9. At my school, they would not send your paperwork to the state until you passed the exit exam. Even if you do find a state that lets you sit for the NCLEX, they would still need the paperwork from your school.
  10. I had to repeat chemistry and I barely passed microbiology but I loved nursing school. They are completely different things.
  11. I graduated mid-December, I submitted my application on December 20, and I got my ATT last friday.
  12. When I took anatomy and chemistry together I was working full time. Unfortunately, chemistry was very hard and I ended up having to repeat it but I did get an A in anatomy. It's not foolish if you can handle the content of both classes but be aware that a low grade can really mess up your GPA, it did to mine. You can always try to take both and if you are struggling, drop the class before it stays on your record.
  13. I keep no more than 3 classes (two dividers) in a three inch binder. More likely, I only keep two classes in a three ring binder so that by the end of the semester I don't have a bulging binder.
  14. I can tell you that I took my TEAS after I took chemistry and I did well on it. I also used the TEAS study guide. Do you have the practice tests? If so, I suggest that you take the practice tests and see how you do. If you are passing then maybe you don't have to wait to take chemistry but if you are borderline on the practice tests, then I think it's a good idea to take chemistry before trying. Hope this helps.
