Time management. I cannot stress this enough. I am a single parent and just finished my first semester of LPN school. I keep a weekly planner to write down assignments, work schedule, and daughters schedule. In addition to a weekly planner I had a monthly one that I kept on my desk at home with all my assignments for the month so that way I could keep up with assignment due dates. Make sure you set aside time to study but also find time for yourself, even if its just a bubble bath. Try not to get behind and reading or studying, space things apart, less stressful. Good luck.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm going into my second semester now and a graduate student suggested I buy a study book. Now I wouldn't spend hours a day studying but I think in your down time it would be helpful.

I just finished my first semester in LPN school and honestly it wasn't that bad. I did not study every single day but I did make sure to read each chapter that we covered and to review my power points and add notes to them. Passed with all Bs.

Not sure what happens in a case where your school looses accreditation but I recently transferred from one LPN school to another after my first semester. During that first semester I took pharmacology, nursing fundamentals and my first nursing course & clinical where we did geriatrics. The only class that I could transfer was the clinical & geriatrics course only because we received our CNA license after. With my CNA license I was able to take a channel exam. My pharmacology and fundamental had one less topic then new school so they would not except those courses. This is in Louisiana so maybe Texas isn't as strict.

Even though this sounds challenging I would go for it. The worst that can happen is you cant handle the hours and would have to drop down to part time or find another job. Have you looked into student loans to help with some of your bills? I am a single parent also and was in the same situation. I worked full time my first semester in nursing school and did very well. In fact I did better than I had done in college when I did not work. Emotionally it was hard but I got through it. The next semester I took out loans and moved to part time. Talk about less stressful. :) Whatever you decide, good luck!

Once I graduate I will be IV certified. It is included in our program but I dont know the exact details because our first day is Monday. Before our instructor mentioned it, I had no idea that all programs did not include IV certification. I will be attending a school in New Orleans but from what I understand most schools do not included it in their program.

I start this Monday at Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans. I took the HESI once and didnt score as high as I would have liked. Wish I would have gotten one of those study guides. Good luck!

hello everyone. i was accepted into two practical nursing programs for fall 2015. does anyone know how many days i would have clinicals at charity? im trying to decided if its worth driving all the way from thibodaux?

Well I didnt realize that I wanted to become a nurse until I was in high school. My first semester in college I didnt do so well. I freaked out and immediate changed my major. Now my senior year in college I went ahead and applied for two nursing programs and thankfully received acceptance letters to both.

Congrats! I just found out yesterday that I was accepted for both of the LPN programs that I applied for. They both start in August. One is 15 months and the other is 19. Of course the shorter program is an hour drive from my house. I am so nervous but good look with everything.

Well for me, I never took Anatomy and Psychology II, so on my acceptance letter those classes where checked off for me to register for. If you completed all the prerequisites then you don't need to register for anything at this moment.
