Motherhood Maternity stores have the best bra selection. Lets put it this way. My daughter is 2 1/2 and stopped breast feeding at 1y/o. I just bought three more last month. I love them so much I kept wearing them after I stopped breast feeding. I went from a B to a D cup and I welcome the support. Never felt more comfortable. The sales ladies really know what will fit your body type well. I highly recommend them!!!
  2. I think this problem is the same for all professions. I have heard from many other areas, such as lab, transportation, house keeping etc... that they were so glad to see me because the other nurses are never available, willing or even care about jobs that both professions are capable of doing. I am always checking if I can prevent additional needle sticks to my pt's by running accu-checks with lab draws or organizing repeat draws such as a cpk with a K+ or H&H. Yes, it takes organization and time but our goal is to get the pt's home as quick as possible in a better condition than what they origionally presented. My husband just started working as a RRT, and I told him many stories of things that other RRT's had done and not done that were frustrating to nursing in general. I have received feedback from the staff at my hospital regarding his performance. They all feel that he works very well and as a team player. I know this may not work for all, but you might want to go to the source and explain what it is that is bothering you the most. You might be suprized how some people just don't even have a clue that they did anything to offend or irritate. I know I have had a few of these situations myself, and to be honest, if you tell me it bothers you, I change! Good luck and best wishes!

I work in Ohio. We start new grad RN's at 22.00/hr. There is a shift differential which could pay up to additional 1.50/hr. If you have at least a year of experience and are able to handle change, there is a resource pool which pays additional 10.70/hr. I have been a nurse for almost 8 yrs. and make 37.00/hr. It may just be were you are looking for a job. I know my cost of living is nowhere near as expensive as the west cost. We get paid fairly. Have you ever thought about travel nursing?
  5. Expensive!!!!!! From La Grange, live in Elyria. I bridged through Univ. of Akron after being accepted at Case. I couldn't see putting out that much money for the same degree. Want to back for degree #5 MSN/JD not offered up North.
  6. Good luck to all the students who will be at EMH. I am an RN at EMH. I was also once the tutor for the LPN and RN students at LCCC. I will probably see all of you at some point and time. I am what they call a Resource nurse. I work most areas of nursing at EMH and our Amherst and Avon hospitals. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. Best Wishes! Tammie C. RN, BSN
  7. Med-Surg is your best start. It gives you the ability to learn several different pt types. You also gain valued organizational skills and the ability to focus on the overall pt instead of a focused body system. Once you feel comfortable in this area, you always have the ability to try different areas of focus, such as ICU, ER, Cardiac. Now if possible a med-surg unit which has telemetry and possibly a respiratory focus would give you the skills to move to those types of specialties with more ease if you choose to do so. I know many nurses who initially were hesitant to go to med-surg simply because of pt-nurse ratio, but once they got through orientation they absolutely loved it. Tammie Cabassa RN, BSN
  8. Well, I never heard of a HESI exam. What does this test involve? I am from the Cleveland area where I received my ADN and went to Univ. of Akron for my BSN. I never heard mention of this test.
  9. [i am an Ohio RN. The only test I ever took was the NCLEX. Now maybe your friends are refering to tests such as ACLS for certain jobs in the hospitals. But, never have I heard of an Ohio specific test. I work at a hospital that has many nursing students and I have never had anyone mention anything. I also worked as staff member at a nursing school about 5 years ago and the only test I preped them for was NCLEX.
  10. Hello Oliver and welcome to the USA! In my particular facility, everyone has their own way of starting the shift. My particular habit is starting with a verbal report which I am able to ask the previous nurse questions regarding plan of care, possible test preperation and what not. I then go to the desk to make sure my pt. have no STAT orders waiting. I then do a quick run through my pt.s rooms to make sure no one is in distress. I then look through my med book for any early med pass, check my diabetic pt's accu check, then proceed with vitals and assessment, another med pass, then charting. Somewhere in there you need to fit in call lights, doctor rounds, visitors, misc. and a break. Then you give report and go home. We have a normal load of 7 pt's per RN and you may cover an LPN who will have another 7 pt's.
  11. I have been making daily worksheets for pt. data for about 5years. They are hand made and I just haven't found a real good one. Does anyone have one they could send via e-mail?
