  1. You can tell the tech "Please let that patient know I'll be in there or get their nurse when I'm finished doing my med pass" Your patient that you're with at that moment is priority and it's a med error waiting to happen because what if you rush giving that patient's medication and they have a adverse reaction to the medication which is also a safety issue. This is only if you're the direct nurse for that other patient that's wanting their meds.
  2. You don't need UWorld to practice for the NCLEX. Reason there is a bunch of NCLEX resources is so students have different ways on how to prepare according to their needs. I've used Saunders/NCSBN, UWorld/Saunders and the last attempt I used Hurst Review which worked out for me. Yes it's expensive however; you can get a payment plan if that's more affordable for you. Whatever resource you choose, stick to one or two and go with it. Don't overwhelm yourself with multiple resources because that will lead to anxiety and as if the NCLEX doesn't cause enough anxiety already. Good luck!
  3. Congrats! It's okay that you went the whole 205 questions. I failed at 85 and passed on 205. I used Hurst Review because UWorld I felt doesn't work unless you understand the content within the rationales and that you are strong in content in my opinion. Hurst Review worked for me because it refreshed my memory on the basics.
  4. By now you probably have gotten your results or at least found out. I'm in Cali also I took my NCLEX PN back on September 4th and found out about a week later that I passed. I paid my license fee that Friday September 14th and got my license on the BVPNT the following Monday. So not a long turn around time. I didn't do the PVT trick for the reason of not wanting to psych myself out if I get the "good" or "bad" pop-up.
  5. After reading a lot of the comments and what people keeps in their nursing work bag gives me ideas of what I want to carry in my nursing work bag. It's not weird for male nurses to have a messenger bag right? haha. Anyways, I've decided to ditch the backpack and go with a messenger bag because I don't want to be digging in my backpack for things that can be easily accessed. Hence, the desire to move to a messenger bag. These last few days I've been thinking of what to put in my bag.
  6. PearsonVue I believe sends the results to the Board of Processing who then sends the letters out. Really weird that you haven't received anything yet because by the 3rd week you should of at least known.
  7. There's all sorts of NCLEX test banks which give practice with NCLEX style questions. Is there any particular NCLEX test bank you're talking about? Unless you are talking about the NCLEX practice test on NCLEX | NCSBN ?
  8. Don't lose hope at all
  9. The BVNPT is slowly processing as of this week results from Nov.19th and they are probably backed up plus it's the holidays and the end of the year. I would continue to wait until you get that official letter in the mail stating that you have met the requirements. When I failed twice I had that 4th option still there along with the third option.
  10. I would strongly suggest investing a refresher course because being out of college for 3 years is a long time and being that you've taken the NCLEX 4 times and have failed each time your best bet is to invest in a course review course. Your last resort in my opinion is to re-do the nursing program. You don't want to quit your job right now because you still need some source of income. You can also try finding a job that you somewhat like to get you by. I worked in the food service department of a hospital and I didn't like one bit of it to say the least that's why I told myself "I need to pass my NCLEX PN or be stuck at a job where it was heading nowhere" Hurst Review, Rachel Allen are two good course review courses or even Excell Nursing Review. What do you feel was your weakness or reasoning why you failed the NCLEX 4 times?
  11. You're welcome. I would really consider it. I'm sure there are other review courses you can use to prepare you for another attempt at the nclex
  12. I've been in your situation. I failed the NCLEX PN twice before passing the exam the third attempt. After failing the second time using UWorld I decided to go with a review course like Hurst. Let me tell you that Hurst changed the way I thought and how I answered questions. I only used Hurst the entire time I was studying for my third attempt and didn't look at any other textbook or review material. My first two times I had so much handouts, looked at so much review material it proved to be overwhelming for me. Don't give up or lose hope. Right now, take a break from anything NCLEX breathe then a week later slowly get back into studying. This next attempt at studying be mentally fresh and take care of yourself physically.
  13. Congratulations mic_imai. You're welcome. If I had passed the first attempt I wouldn't have been able to share my journey and inspire others.
  14. I hesitated on checking my BreEZe account lol after I took mine.
  15. Not really sure. I would give it a few more days. Then check again. All I know was is I got my letter in the mail a week after I took the exam saying I met the requirements and passed. Also depends when the NCSBN sends in the results from your exam. If you went from feeling you passed to feeling of failure don't lose hope.
  16. If you want to look at something to review look at the strategies in Hurst. Then nothing at all after that. You should be well prepared being that you did both Hurst and UWorld. I passed my NCLEX PN on the third try using only Hurst. And my scores for the QReview Simulators were 59/125, 61/125, 80/125 and 60/125. I went in test day being confident and with a bit of anxiety that I can do this. Don't stay up late tonight. Get a good nights rest, set your alarms, get what you need ready tonight so that way you won't frantically do it in the morning. Then tomorrow wake up relaxed, eat a nice breakfast and be in the positive mindset that you will do this.
  17. I would review Cultural and Religious considerations again. Since you're scoring well on Mosby's and Exam Cram you would be good to go. You won't ever feel ready for the exam you just have to believe in yourself. I used Hurst when I was studying for my third attempt because Saunders and UWorld wasn't working for me. Review your precautions, prioritization and delegation. You will have to know the scope of practice of an LVN along with the RN and UAP. Remember, LVNs can only data collect in the assessment phase. Know the difference between a stable and unstable patient.

Don't lose hope because of the PVT. It's not 99.9% accurate. Actually if you feel horrible it's probably a good sign. I know the effort put in passing the NCLEX PN. I did it myself before finally passing the exam on the third attempt. If you do fail, then re-assess what you did wrong and how you studied and change it up so that way you can be better prepared. Also since you stated that maternity is your weakest subject then I suggest you look into a content review course such as Hurst (just in case you failed).
  19. I would consider Hurst for content, strategies, and questions there's a reason why Hurst is a popular NCLEX Prep Course. When I was studying I began to understand "why" I was selecting an answer. The NCLEX itself is going to appear like it's all over the place and it did my first two attempts at my NCLEX PN but the third attempt even though going the whole 205 questions I felt like doing Hurst paid off greatly. I was doing questions until the day before and even the morning of my exam so that I can get into exam taking mode not the right way to do it or even spike up the anxiety/nerves but I wanted it to be my final attempt taking the NCLEX PN. Several factors went into why I failed the first two attempts mostly because I didn't bother to review core content and was just answering practice questions and reading rationales.
  20. You can try the PVT after you get an email saying that you completed the NCLEX. The CPR is not emailed to you instead it's mailed to you 3-4 weeks from you test date.
  21. Since you've used UWorld, Saunders and Lippincott's and still not successful. I suggest you look into study material that gives you a review on core content such as Hurst. I used it for my NCLEX PN and even though I went the whole 205 questions and passed it was worth doing the review. I decided to do Hurst review after failing using Saunders/NCSBN and UWorld/Saunders. So you may want to use a different combination like for example Hurst and UWorld. Kaplan is also good also however; I feel unless you use their content review book their NCLEX prep is surrounding the world of using test taking strategies to answer NCLEX style questions. Although, I think this is a good approach I also think it leaves out the fact that if you don't know your core content and the basics you won't be successful in passing the NCLEX. Having "near passing" all three times is devastating however; don't let that deter you from passing the NCLEX. Last thing, I'd say is if you choose to use Hurst as your content review prep don't use any other text. Thousands of students have used Hurst and have succeeded. So why not you?
  22. Thank you. It's very common for people not to feel confident after taking it. I didn't feel too confident honestly when I went the whole 205 questions I kept thinking about it because it is different then any other exam you've taken in LPN school. Very different. I did pay right away to retake it when I found out I failed the second time and waited I think like 2 months for my ATT to get emailed to me because I paid for both re-application fee and the exam fee to PearsonVue. I can honestly say that after passing the whole exam was a complete blur. The whole week after waiting was intense I didn't even want to check the mail each time lol. But sending you positive vibes.
  23. I took my NCLEX PN back on September 4th and found out about a week after that I passed. For California, the NCLEX PN results take about a minimum of 3-4 weeks to be mailed out. I took for the third time and went the whole 205 questions. All in all, about a week if you passed and 3-4 a most.
  24. Thanks for correcting me.
  25. If you plan on practicing in Washington then you should test there. Florida is a compact state meaning that you once you get a license there you can practice at other NLC states. Washington is not a NLC state so if you test in Florida you will have to re-take the NCLEX again in Washington. You might want to check with each Board of Nursing in Washington or Florida to make sure. You can look for their contact info on the http://www.ncsbn.org website. Hope this helps.
