  1. CNR 2015 applicants? 2nd degree

I was accepted to the accelerated second degree program in March and will be starting classes in 2 weeks. I never received an acceptance e-mail, I was told over the phone that I was accepted and got the official letter in mail 2 weeks later.
  2. CNR 2015 applicants? 2nd degree

Anyone here know anything about the coop city campus? The fall and spring sessions for the accelerated students will be held there instead. Parking? Are the labs there well equipped and updated? It seems like they are making several changes to the pr...
  3. I took it as 2 different classes. They have combination classes with. CPR and First Aid but it doesn't seem to be the one we need, which is BLS for "Healthcare Providers".
  4. Yes, will be attending orientation June 9. I was told it's mandatory, and we would be receiving info on how to log in to their systems, get our syllabi's, and some pre-homework/readings to do. I will be working on the long checklist of things to do w...
  5. Congrats FranMyr! Yes, I have completed all pre-reqs so it will just be the nursing classes. My schedule is as follows: Mon: 8am-11:15 and 12:15-3:15 (Health Assessment - theory portion) Tues: 8am-11:30 and 12-4:00 (Foundations - theory portion) Wed:...
  6. Nurses have an Attitude Problem

I truly wasn't trying to imply the whole "higher calling" mentality. I just feel that to be a nurse, there should be a level of empathy, compassion, being able to communicate with others, and honesty. For the couple of people I have come across in wh...
  7. Nurses have an Attitude Problem

I have had experience with MANY nurses during long term stays in the hospital for over a year. Most of them are fantastic and truly caring and compassionate. There are days that they may feel overwhelmed (short staffed, new patient, discharges, chart...

  9. Anyone here starting this summer? I officially registered for summer classes today, finally feels like its "really" happening. :)
  10. frustrated....

I'm currently taking Microbiology as well and lucky to have an amazing professor who really narrows down the information we need to know and gives us notes to study from for his exams. Although there is quite a bit of info, anyone who study's from hi...
  11. anyone going for the accelerated CNR

I'm scheduled to register next Wednesday so will let you know. But from what I can see when I logged in to look at course listings, the 6 week summer schedule is pretty much 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday. If that's the case, factoring in commute time an...
  12. Which laptop for nursing?

I actually just made this decision last week after hours and hours of research. I went to best buy set on getting the surface pro 3 since it was on sale for $1149.99 (the 8gb 256 i5 model) and I signed up for the student discount which was another $1...
  13. I think the skills check may cover things like checking blood pressure, respiration rate, etc. Things that will be covered in health assessment lab.
  14. Congrats Kpass! Summer classes will start 6/29 for 6 weeks. I think classes will be Mon-Thurs 8:30am - 5:30pm, this is based off of what students in the earlier accelerated program cohorts of CNR has posted, and I believe there is a skills check on F...

  16. I paid my deposit a few weeks ago. Maybe give them a call tomorrow morning?
  17. Transfer student to Molloy college

I applied for their dual degree BSN program with an undergrad GPA of 3.08 from my first bachelor's degree, and a 4.0 GPA from my pre-req's (A&P 1 and 2, Chemistry 1 and 2, lifespan, nutrition, and microbiology) but didn't get in
  18. Have you received anything other than your acceptance letter from CNR yet? My acceptance letter was just a 1 page letter congratulating me on being accepted. I'm assuming they'll be sending a packet of information separately with health forms, housin...
  19. Nassau Community College Fall 2015

I would suggest taking A&P2, Statistics, Microbiology, and Lifespan and making sure you get A's in these classes to improve your GPA. Also, maybe consider retaking biochemistry.
  20. Congrats futurern15!
  21. CNR 2015 applicants? 2nd degree

I don't qualify for pell since this will be my second degree, and I've used up 8 semesters of TAP already for my undergrad, so it will just be loans and out of pocket for me. Tuition is $724 per credit x 59 = 42,716 + fees etc.
  22. I'm taking out loans to pay for 1/2 the tuition and will be paying the rest out of pocket, sigh, and I thought I was DONE with students loans when I paid off my first degree. I wanted to apply for. NYU too, but seriously can't afford the 90k tuition....
  23. I'm currently completing my last pre-req (Microbiology) at Nassau Community College. Will be done on 5/15, and starting the professional phase at CNR 6/29.
  24. CNR 2015 applicants? 2nd degree

I'll be commuting from Nassau Country. I drove there for the open house, it took about 30-35 minutes with no traffic, not too bad. I'm taking Basic Life Support for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association this coming Monday, still...
  25. I'm turning 34 in a few weeks and will be starting an accelerated BSN program this June. To be honest, I don't think I would've had the determination or drive as I do now to complete nursing school when I obtained my first degree. I had no idea what ...
