  1. I had considered hospice....does anyone know what the wear and tear on the body is in hospice?
  2. Yes! Second guessing everything. Nervous that I will be too busy to "have a life". Nervous I won't be able to find a job....
  3. Would Urgent Care be a tad less strenuous? I had considered it actually, but wasn't sure what the job would entail.
  4. I am in my lower 40s. I've worked using my body most of my life. I became a CNA a couple of years ago, and haven't been able to do that full time due to back pain. I was hoping that by becoming an LPN, I would be able to use my body less, but I'm beginning to worry that may not be the case. Are there available LPN positions that wouldn't require quite so much abuse on my joints? I'd love to work in a doctor's office, more specifically in the holistic field, but those jobs seem scarce, especially for an LPN.
  5. I didn't read through all of the comments, so this may have already been suggested....but have you tried Assisted Living? You're working with people that are in better shape overall. Sure...you will lose patients, but rarely are you working with bedridden patients.
  6. On the back page, there is a list for "Are there any abnormalities?". Under that list is genitourinary. That is a pelvic exam. =( I have mine scheduled today, but had just had one a little over a year ago. New rules are...if you get an all clear for a few years in a row, they allow you to go three years between exams. I was SOOO happy about that. LOL! I'm just curious why they are requiring this for school. And what would they do if there WERE abnormalities?
  7. It goes by your grades in each class and the credits for those classes. The MAR packet explains it in detail, but basically an A =4 B=3 C=2...etc. You multiply that by the credit hours. So if you have a class with 3 credit hours, and receive an A in that class, it's worth 12 points. The MAR packet lists the classes that qualify for the points...BIO PSY, etc. You total the points for the classes and then add your TEAS. This will give you your overall points.
  8. Anyone else blown away by the medical paperwork? That's a lot of information they're requiring, and I'm not sure why. I can see the immunization records, even though I supplied those to be in the CNAI & II programs, but why do they need me to have a mammary and pelvic exam? I mean...if I have breast cancer, are they kicking me out? (that was a rhetorical question, by the way). In other words, sure, check me for Tb and anything that may harm another person, but why do they need to know something that would be personal under any other circumstances?
  9. Did everything go well?
  10. This is for comic relief. I saw a meme the other day that said, "When I die, I want anyone I did a group project with to lower me into the ground. That way they can let me down one more time" :).
  11. I received my acceptance letter yesterday!!!!
  12. If letters aren't coming until April 15th, but registration is April 13th and 14th, how do we register? On the other thread, someone said they just stick you in a class? I hope not, I have a job and need to be able to choose which classes I take. Anyone have information regarding this?
  13. They register for you? How do you know when your classes are as far as days and times? They have several different options, do they just stick you in one???
  14. Well, looking at the registration dates, I hope it comes before April 15th too. Registration is April 13th and 14th.
  15. Still no letter here. I wonder what's taking so long?
  16. What other board? I'd love to check it out! =)
  17. I just checked, and I'm showing the Practical Nursing Degree program on mine as well!!!! I was looking on here, and last year, they had their letters by March 20th. Good luck everybody!
  18. I have 108 points. Last year, they accepted points ranging from 91-117, so I should be fine. But I'm one of those that worries that this year will be substantially more competitive. Lol
  19. Wow, they know how to kill you with anticipation. I took my TEAS in January and did well enough, that I should be accepted into the LPN program for this Fall. However, until I have that acceptance letter in my hand, I will hold my breath. The deadline to have everything completed and turned in was Feb. 26. They claim that it takes 4-6 weeks for them to begin processing letters, but I noticed that there was a thread here last year, and everyone received their letters around the 20th of March. Soooooo....here's to running to the mailbox every day, and coming back empty handed. I hope it comes today.....
  20. I've felt this way as a CNA. It's a daunting thing...to take care of people that are sick. It's possible that Long term care just isn't your thing. That doesn't mean that you're not LPN material. Just focus on what areas you love, and take that path when you decide where you want to work.
  21. What ended up happening?
  22. CrystalinNC replied to Amcz's topic in LPN to RN
There's no such thing as "second best" when you have a degree. =)

It depends on how low you are on the list. I've heard that they actually go through the lists rather quickly, because people drop out, or don't sign up in time. Don't be upset just yet. =)
  24. I just accepted a job at the hospital (dream CNAII job), but I start school in August. I would like to keep a spot at the hospital while I'm going to school, but I'm not sure if I can juggle it all. I have to study in order to make good grades, although I catch on quickly. Here's the rub. The hospital doesn't hire LPN's. Their clinics do, but the hospital itself doesn't. I ultimately want to be an RN, but this is the route I chose for multiple reasons. The school requires a full time work experience for 6 months as an LPN in order to enter the LPN to RN program. Any thoughts, questions, or advice are greatly appreciated.
  25. Have you considered just working in a doctor's office? They hire ADNs often. You could also consider Hospice, but you'd better LOVE what you do. If it's the schedule that's bothering you, that can be worked around. If it's caring for patients and being there for them when they need you, then you really shouldn't be in any medical profession. I'm not hurling accusations, I'm just asking you to do some soul searching and figure out what has you so freaked out about it.
