  1. Babies get sick a LOT. You don't want to make a bad impression at this dream job and get yourself fired because you're calling out all the time. People understand taking a prn job when your kids are young. It wont be a huge hindrance to your future career. You have the rest of your life to work.
  2. I am looking for a state with the best ratio of high pay vs. low cost of living. If you are able to make a nice life for yourself as an RN in your state please respond. I would especially appreciate it if you gave me an approximate salary and/or monthly rent. I can easily look up housing costs so salary ranges are more appreciated.
  3. Do not try again. Be happy as an LPN. It's a great job. It's not worth the emotional distress and money if there is a good chance you might not be successful. Not to sound mean, but I don't realistically see you being successful at a competitive program with your current writing skills.
  4. maybe you should take a break from working for awhile
  5. you can rent books for about 40 each. google it. Just don't forget to mail them back. Shipping is included in the cost.
  6. I had a social worker at a hospital do it and I got it right away. I had a check within four months which is quicker than anyone else I'd ever heard of. You need as much documentation as you can possibly get. Every hospitalization, every specialist.
  7. I havemy BA in psych with a minor in bio and I got my LPN license from the localcommunity college. I would like to go on for either my RN or another healthcarerelated advanced degree. My problem is, despite six years of education, I amstill a year and a half away from a two year degree. I understand I have theoption of going to an advanced placement BSN program but those are SOexpensive. I got half way through one of those programs and had to drop out doto stress/finances. Do I have any other options? MY a and p just expired. Iwant to find a program that will grandfather in my entire undergrad. I amwilling to move, even if I have to go abroad. Is it smarter/faster/moreeconomical to use my undergrad to launch into a nurse practitioner or OTprogram? Have anyone else found themselves in this situation? Does it makessense to keep pushing through the community college system to get an associatesRN? I'd have to repeat almost all my sciences. Then I'd still face difficulty for not having a BSN...
  8. Try signing up for the NCLEX by requesting to be licenced in the state where you went to school. Maybe then your school will be listed as an option. Once you are licensed in one state you can apply for reciprocity.
  9. Don't take out more than 50% in student loans than you would expect to make during one years salary. For example, if you expect to make 60k as an RN in your area, you should not take on more than 30k in loans.
  10. I know what you need to do!! You need a facility or doctors office to "sponser" you and apply for a work visa. It involves a lot of paper work so I suggest reaching out to someone you know who is in the position to be a sponser. Is there a doctor with a private office who is a personal or family friend? Does one of your past professors have a role in a hospital or nursing home? Ask that person. Why so resistant to getting married? If I were you I would legit put an ad on craigslist asking for a husband and work out some kind of deal.
