  1. I hope you filed charges and buy somep pepper spray. When a patient attacks a caregiver, they are no longer a patient, they become another street thug. Fight back as if you were fighting to save your life.
  2. I've been a nurse since 1987 and still feel that way.
  3. I agree with all the statements and I hope no program or BON would even consider you as a candidate for being a nurse. Three times at driving drunk tells me that you are someone who feels rules don't apply to you and worse yet, your carelessness and irresponsible behavior shows you have absolutely no regard for human life and have no business working in a profession where you make decisions that could kill someone. How long will it be before you show up to work drunk? I would not want to work with you and I would not want you caring for myself or any family members. Do the nursing profession a favor and find another career. Bartending sounds like the perfect career choice for you.
  4. The survey probably only those in management roles. It couldn't have included those of us who provide direct patient care.
  5. Amen to that, I feel the same way. After 28 years, I go to work, do what I need to do to keep my job, my license and collect my check.
  6. Every freaking thing except the paycheck.
  7. Thank you, I didn't realize one could work from home, that would be great.
  8. Thank you! I will. Is there any certifications that would be helpful to get?
  9. Where would I look for that kind of position? That would be great! Thank you
  10. What type of training would help get me in the door? I would love a position like that.
  11. I have 28 years of adult RN Hospital experience. I no longer want to care for patients or their families. I am looking for suggestions as to what kind of work to seek and what kind of additional training I would need and where to find it. I've thought about informatics, utilization review, insurance companies and chart reviews. I don't think case management would be a good choice as I am sick and tired of patients and their families and would like something far away from them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  12. I've been a nurse for 28 years, my advice to you is find another career. It doesn't get better. Everything you said is absolutely the truth and exactly how many of us seasoned nurses feel. I would absolutely love finding another career far, far away from dealing with nasty patients, their families, terrible work environments etc., but after this many years of being stuck in a wrong career choice, I'd have to start over and I doubt the starting wage would be near what I make now. Leave and find something you really enjoy, before your job becomes just a paycheck, like mine.
  13. I've been a nurse for 27 years and I'm the one who decides when I will take a vacation. If you have plans to go then go. If your employer doesn't want to give you permission, I would leave them short one more person, fortunately, the job market for finding new jobs is good. Family first always.
