  1. Preparing for 1st Semester of Nursing School

Get as many NCLEX review books as you can afford. I think I had about 6 or so when I went through nursing school. They help tremendously preparing you for the style of questions you will be seeing. I did approx 300 questions related to the section ...
  2. Macon State BSN Fall 2011

I misread your post. I am in the RN-BSN program. They accept only 20 for that program. I looked in banner and it shows 50 slots for the generic BSN classes, so I am assuming they accept 50 students. We took the assessment class in the summer with...
  3. Macon State BSN Fall 2011

I am currently in the program. Will graduate July of this year. Don't worry about registration dates. They have 20 slots already assigned for the 20 students they will accept, and they do all the registering each semester. Don't remember when I got m...
  4. any schools w/o a waiting list in Gerogia

Yes, nursing school is hard. If you are determined and willing to study, you can make it. I would have to guess out of the 84 that failed a class, half of those eventually made it out of the program. To pass a class, you had to make at least a 75,...
  5. any schools w/o a waiting list in Gerogia

Darton College in Albany, GA accepts approx 100 students every (including summer) semester. They also have some "tracks" out of town which are easier to get in. We had 8 students commuting from the Atlanta area (over 100 miles away) in our class be...
  6. New Grads after 6 months: How do you feel?

Well actually, I did that last month. I had worked about 4 1/2 months and I was having a very bad week - my worst yet! I worked 2 days, off 1, and then back 1 day before a 4 day break. I burnt my hand while cooking on my 1 day off and my first tho...
  7. Will my feet/legs always feel this way?

I agree. You have to get the shoe that works for you. Unfortunately, the only way is to try out several shoes and see what works. I have bad knees. After laying in bed crying with them one night, I said I would pay $200 to have them stop hurting....
  8. 6 months and feeling down:(

I am coming up on my 6 month anniversary in a couple of weeks, and I am sooo overwhelmed too. I keep trying to convince myself that it is going to get better, but after this week, I am very skeptical. When I am feeling soo overwhelmed, I tell mysel...
  9. From what I understand, the NCLEX passing standards were raised in April of this year. Prior to this, students at my school have had a 90% pass rate for the past several years. Our school graduates nurses each semester. There are still 10 people ...
  10. NCLEX question

Our instructors told us that statistically you do better if you test as soon as possible after you graduate. The longer you wait, the less chance you have to pass. Our instructors told us to do 100 questions every day from graduation until we test...
  11. I just took the NCLEX today and got 75 questions. I actually felt good after I got finished. I know this is considered a bad sign, so I am worried. I was wondering if anyone else felt good coming out and still passed? I had 3 drug calculations (...
  12. Anyone felt good after taking NCLEX and passed?

For those who are interested, I found out today that I passed.
  13. Anyone felt good after taking NCLEX and passed?

Thank your for those words of encouragement. For those who are interested, I will post my results when I get them.
  14. 75 Questions on Nclex!! AHHHH!!!

A girl at my school just passed with 75 questions and unfortunately 2 others failed iwth 75. Our instructors said they have never had students fail with 75 before. But like a previous poster stated, 85% pass the first time. So I know you did well....
  15. HELP!!! just finish the test....

Congrats!!!!! And thanks again for sharing your story. I am graduating in 2 weeks and will be taking the NCLEX soon. I have just started Kaplan this morning and scored a 68%, so you have really given me hope.
  16. How many in your class Started/Finished

We currently have 42 students, and we are all should graduate next week. 19 of these started in our original class of 102. Our program accepts many students to begin with, but about half flunk out the first 2 semesters.
  17. Is EMG invasive or non-invasive procedure?

I think there are two types of EMGs. One is invasive and painful while a newer version is non-invasive. On Loma Linda University Medical Center's patient teaching page, it states, "Impulses are recorded by attaching small disk electrodes to the ski...
  18. Anyone every failed a nursing clas and had to retake?

I am in my last semester. Out of my current 47 classmates, only 18 of us have not failed a class. So at my school, you would be in the majority. I know it must be tough to fail by such a small amount, but hang in there and you will make it.
  19. Has anyone ever taken A&P I & II via online?

I took A&P II online. My instructor also taught it on campus. She allowed her on campus students to access her course online if they were stuggling in the classroom because she had so much more interactive information on there. I absolutely lo...
  20. Did anyone here not hate nursing school?

I think also it has to do with the school you are attending. Everyone at my school always complains about how they hate it. I have friends at 2 other nursing programs, and they absolutely love it. The instructors are what makes the difference.
  21. group tests in nursing school ***??

My school doesn't have group testing, but I think it would be beneficial to learn critical thinking skills. Here is a good example. I think everyone learned something from this discussion. https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/exam-question-troublelin...
  22. Does YOUR school allow pinning dispite...

My school also don't do the HESI. We have to take NLN tests at the end of each semester just for our own benefit to see what areas we need to work on for the NCLEX. The nursing school also uses this information to see what areas they need to improv...
  23. PDA?????? Can someone tell me ............

I have a Dell x50v that I love. I use it in clinicals and to study. I couldn't imagine nursing school without it. I would agree that it would be better having it in your head than your PDA. However, my nursing instructor told us last semester tha...
